Any players with knocks or niggles may be rested, otherwise I'm sure it will be treated like any other game.

I know it’s unlikely but making the playoffs would be the polar opposite to last season’s bottle job when we must have spent 80% of the season in the top 5 let a lone the top 7

No, no, no.fredandballou wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 2:04 pm Will Tommy be putting out our 'B' team v Fylde on Tuesday to keep our first team players injury free for the Trophy Semi. If we do field our 'B' team other team in the relegation scrap will not be best pleased if we appear to be gifting Fylde the three points.
And if you did not understand that, let me repeat ... NO! And NO again for good measure.
The stupidest, dumbest, crassest thing any football manager can do, BAR NOTHING, is to assume that football is so predictable, and his players so robotic, that he can play percentages with impunity.
You don't know what MIGHT happen. You don't know what WILL happen. You simply know that you HAVE to have your best shot at winning EVERY game. No exceptions. No if's, and's, but's, none of that BS.
I've seen enough professional football in my time to know that any manager who thinks like this (I know! I'll field a weakened team for this that or the other reason) is a grade 1 idiot who deserves all the negative fall-out that ensues.
In case you didn't quite catch my drift, or understand my point of view, fielding weakened teams is NOT WHAT ANY MANAGER WORTHY OF THE NAME DOES ... EVER.

Have I missed something? Are we 10 x points clear at the top or 10 x points clear of relegation? Would be a silly thing to do!fredandballou wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 2:04 pm Will Tommy be putting out our 'B' team v Fylde on Tuesday to keep our first team players injury free for the Trophy Semi. We owe them a good beating anyway, arrogant little club

Interesting to note some of our youngsters are playing an Aldershot Senior Cup SF this evening away to Hartley Wintney with the final against either Westfield FC (Surrey), who are the current holders, or Badshot Lea at The Rec on Tuesday 6th May 2025.

Momentum is everything, after a poor performance Saturday we need to bounce back and get a good result ahead of the semi final. Fylde have often been a bogey team for us, not just beating us but inflicting some of our most humiliating results. We must be overdue a win against them.
If Ellison is fit to start then he needs to comeback in for Laing, if not then I would like to see us start with Frost on the right R.Jones on the left and have Aaron in the back 3 like he's done at the end of Ebbsfleet and Wealdstone games. Field a strong side and if all is going well we have 5 subs to use that we can take Saturday's likely starters off early.

that's probably the answer isn't it? Go all out to try to establish a lead then, if the game permits, bring off anyone who might need it. Fylde seem capable of the full spectrum of results so it's really anyone's guess.aldershot-jg wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 7:37 am Momentum is everything, after a poor performance Saturday we need to bounce back and get a good result ahead of the semi final.
