I don’t usually listen to Rob Worrall’s commentaries due to the fact I am at the games, home or away, but recently I have had a spell in hospital which has made me realise how valuable Rob’s commentaries are to people unfortunate not to be able to get to games. He deserves praise but all he gets is cheap insults after midnight from “Aldershot”, who should be ashamed of making them.

I couldn't get my head around that one.
Could it be something to do with his vantage point, they don't have monitors.

Perception is reality.

"Firstly I want to say how much I appreciate the fact we get radio commentaries"
"I also can't even begin to imagine how difficult it must be so I certainly have a lot of respect for anyone who does that job."
"I also want to make clear I think Rob does a good job"

Not sure why it should matter what time posts are made. lol. Why should I be ashamed of calling out his behaviour of belittling young boys? There was no need for it. I'm certainly not going to apologise for that.

I think Rob does a terrific job. I have a friend who has followed the Shots for 50+ years and due to ill health is stuck in his one room. His only pleasure each week is listening to Rob. Hearing how high a regard he holds Rob and the service he provides to us supporters really makes me realise how important it is to so many people. Rob does it brilliantly.

Im not going to bash Rob, as I think he does a good job, and after posting the above, actually felt a little guilty as I felt id jumped on the bandwagon of the original post a bit. If youre reading Rob, I apologise. To your point however CPH, the clue really should have been that the corner would have been at the wrong end of the pitch.

I’m neither for or against Rob and commentary.

But if someone (in this case Aldershot) is not a fan and/or has an issue with Rob or the comms then he/she is allowed to say so, and not have to feel ashamed, IMO.

There are a few things at this club worth complaining about, but our radio commentary certainly isn't one of them!!

Having sat next to Rob doing the odd co-commentary with him for a couple of seasons I've seen how much work he puts into everything he does to have as much info about every player on the pitch.
My only problem with him is he seems reluctant to criticise the manager or his son when it's required.

Just love his excitment when we score and disappointment when we concede.
I think Mr. Gibbs wants to marry Widds junior.

As someone that travels a lot and am often in another country when games are on I find the commentary Rob provides to be first class. Having seen for myself what he has to contend with during his commentary in my opinion he does a bloody excellent job.

A lot of people seem to be missing the point. I enjoy Rob's commentary and I enjoy listening to games which I'm unable to make. That's not the issue I was raising in the original post. It was his attitude towards two young Shots supporters.

I think that your point is so particular to you that it is not a surprise that many others are missing it. Frankly a ridiculous post.

ah I think we can give him a pass, he's been on mic for 2 hours, probably just wants to get home, and two kids invite themselves onto the broadcast. He didn't have to indulge them at all and I'm sure was just giving them a helpful tip for next time.
