Let’s worry about getting to W first.
Losing the semi would be worse than the final I think

Definitely. Whilst it would be great to win a final I'd settle now for getting there and losing. Saturday is everything.

Getting to Wembley at last means a lot to us shots fans particularly the older you are and I’ve previously listed the near misses a couple of months ago and losing another semi final particularly against that lot will be extremely disturbing, 2-30 on Saturday afternoon is either going to be heavy drinking time or being extremely pissed off beyond belief!

These "would you rather X or Y?" questions leave me cold. We simply don't have to choose. It's not an either/or situation. More to the point, we don't actually HAVE the choice.

Would you rather go to bed with Natalie Portman or Eva Green? Yeah, well, the chance would be a fine thing.

Yes we have no control over the situation, but I still find it interesting to see where other people's priorities lie. There are real priority-related choices to be made, albeit not by us, such as whether Tommy rests players on Tuesday.

Most definitely especially to them.

We are too good to go down, so a day at Wembley would be the icing on the cake.

My late Father, and my late Father In Law were both Shots fans who experienced the numerous near misses, promotion play-off losses, and semi final defeats. I know they'd have loved to see the Shots walk out at Wembley but sadly it never quite happened for them. l know they'll be looking down on the EBB on Saturday lunchtime, hoping for a change of fortune. Maybe, just maybe this might be our time.

Beg to differ. I think most of us would prefer to lose the SF rather than the Final.
We don't have much to shout about, but our 100% record at Wembley (4 wins out of 4) is something we're very proud of

Wembley. Without a shadow of a doubt.

A well-lived life is one where you frequently experience special moments - the experiences that stay with you right until the end.

Clubs are relegated every season and it's rarely ever a disaster. Now, if we were talking about promotion back to the Football League, I'd have a different opinion but, after 40 years of supporting The Shots, I'd give my left bollock to see my club play at Wembley. Moments like that come around once in a blue moon - grab them while you can because there's no guarantee they'll come around again. Even if they do, there's no guarantee you'll be around to experience them.

Birdman wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:14 am Re the last question, “Aldershot Town defeat Woking in the SF to reach Wembley for the first time and then win the FA Trophy Final but suffer relegation”. An immediate comparison that came to my mind is Wigan Athletic. In 2013 they won the FA Cup beating Man City but were relegated from the PL the same season. They now play in league 1 (division 3 in old money). Although it’s at a much higher level than us I wouldn’t want us to suffer a similar fate insofar as not getting back up. So, to me it’s avoid relegation and treat the Trophy as a bonus, whatever the outcome.
I wonder if Wigan fans value that day out over the following league seasons? I remember a few of them not caring too much about relegation at the time.
Wigan are a traditional lower league club who punched well above their weight for a good few years. In their position I think I'd have taken the glory of an FA Cup win over PL survival.

I'd say the same with us if we were miraculously in the championship. I'd take an FA Cup for relegation back to 3rd tier. But the NL is the minimum level we should be competing at so I wouldn't entertain the idea of relegation to regional football for a less glamorous trophy win at Wembley.
