He hasn't really been in the time he's been here on loan....Last season he had a purpose.Old Bob wrote:But Steve, you are subtly changing your argument from Kwame is not effective from the bench (which I think he is) to he needs to be effective from the start.SteveyAsp wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 2:25 pmNope....I think there will be better out there that offer more and probably from the start of the game, not just a sub.Old Bob wrote: Would you like to revise that after yesterday, Steve
I refuse to use this "finisher" crap that Tommy likes to use to not offend anyone.
I offer you the examples of David "Supersub" Fairclough at Liverpool and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United to illustrate that there really are such players as "finishers".
He's obviously not been great at Ebbsfleet.
You can't compare David Fairclough at Liverpool to us.
We can't afford to carry players.
We all have opinions which is great.
You think he's worth keeping I don't

Thanks, Steve. Yes, we all have opinions. But please look closely at my post. I didn't compare David Fairclough to us.SteveyAsp wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 9:13 pmHe hasn't really been in the time he's been here on loan....Last season he had a purpose.Old Bob wrote:But Steve, you are subtly changing your argument from Kwame is not effective from the bench (which I think he is) to he needs to be effective from the start.

If I say Theo Widdrington is a professional footballer (which is true) and Jude Bellingham is a professional footballer(also true), I am clearly not making any comparison of their respective talents.

Ok....They're substitutes!Old Bob wrote:Thanks, Steve. Yes, we all have opinions. But please look closely at my post. This starters and finishers stuff is akin to not having losers in kids sports and Tommy's way of not offending the little darlings.

Ok, you have a squad of players who can't all start, you make them all feel involved (many starting when needed) and also have a team that has scored a decent number of late goals this season. Where's the problem here?SteveyAsp wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 10:59 pmOk....They're substitutes!Old Bob wrote:Thanks, Steve. Yes, we all have opinions. But please look closely at my post. Sorry, didn't you say something completely different on here a few days ago about people saying we should sign players that come available ,..mad season or something !! on those lines , and there you are doing the sameAlex wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 4:50 pmGo get him Tommy!!

He’s not going to drop back to non-league, he’s way too good for that. I suspect Port Vale may think he’s a bit lightweight for League 1 though.
Re: Ex-Players & Managers thread May 1st on
That's a surprise. 168 EFL appearances, 26 goals, and still only 26. Surely he'll be snapped up by an EFL club?
I would say that Ethan was the standout signing of the awful Danny Searle years. Lots of people gave Danny credit for "finding" Chislett but it was an open secret in local football that Ethan was playing way below his level at Met Police.

Was it ? I & probably quite a few others had never heard of him until he came to us. Just like Tommy with Stokes & Tolaj, managers take a punt on players. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn’t.Old Bob wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 5:45 pmThat's a surprise. 168 EFL appearances, 26 goals, and still only 26. Surely he'll be snapped up by an EFL club?

Danny Searle deserves a bit of credit for this one.

Agree, if it was this ''open secret'' (which i very much doubt) then why had nobody else picked him up sooner, funny how people throw out these comments like 'open secrets'Graham Stovold wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 6:56 pmWas it ?
