hahahahahahahahaha. That's the best quote to come out of this whole weekend.TomMac&Ernie wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 2:57 pmQuote from a Spenny supporter friend who was at the game yesterday.
“They deserved the win and had a fat bloke who absolutely ran the show” Obviously doesn’t understand the game like you do Alex.
"had a fat bloke who absolutely ran the show"
priceless. I'm so happy.

Re: Barrett’s Banger
Would like to admit at this point that at the beginning of the season I raised the point that Barrett looked overweight, and was generally annoyed as I felt he had loads of ability but wasn't bothering to get in shape. Regret those comments now, as clearly he's been one of, if not the best, Shots players this season. Could be immense next season if he gets his head down pre-season and comes back firing on all cylinders

Re: Barrett’s Banger
You could see how much Barrett was enjoying himself during that second half on Sunday, he was playing with freedom and he just has that boyhood love of playing football. It was no surprise when he hit that stunning half valley over the keeper into the far corner. For sure, it's a goal I'll remember for the rest of my days.
and Richard Walden puts the Shots 1-0 up against Man Utd

I made similar comments, CS, but I don't regret them. I feel they were warranted at the time. It's difficult to judge for sure, but I have the strong impression that Josh's weight and fitness have both improved over the season.CornishShot wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 12:12 pm Would like to admit at this point that at the beginning of the season I raised the point that Barrett looked overweight, and was generally annoyed as I felt he had loads of ability but wasn't bothering to get in shape. Re: Barrett’s Banger
he said something in the last programme before wembley about football having been a bit up and down for him so he was focusing on enjoying it now. I said this to my son a while ago, what's better, to earn a bit more money but every day be a bit of a grind, or to be universally adored and one of the best players in the division, scoring spectacular goals and part of something like this?Old Bob wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 1:31 pmI made similar comments, CS, but I don't regret them. There are many reasons why talented players don't "make it" but I think Josh has been self-aware enough to find a situation that works for him. He seems like an amazing bloke who's got this little part of the world at his feet. Long may it continue.

Have to say that will go down as one of the great goals in Aldershot colours. Along with Abbo's Header vs Basingtoke, Bully's Pen vs Hendon, Will Evans Volley vs Tranmare and Scotty's winner vs Torquey. Have I missed any?
Was it the best? My opinion is yes. Some of you may thinbk differently.

Agree with all of those. Danny Hylton at West Ham was pretty special as well.Margateshot Jr wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 6:47 pm Have to say that will go down as one of the great goals in Aldershot colours. Re: Barrett’s Banger
I listened to BBC Surrey's commentary Rob Worrall and Steve Gibbs were chatting about Barratts weight issues. And both said he had toned up, and was probably fitter at the end of the season than at anytime with us. He has got his head down, and reached a level of fitness that enables him to do what he does.

I agree, Kwarme had s massive part in that goal.steveshot wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 8:12 pmAbsolute cracking goal RRRRRRRRRRRRRRichard and Kwames header was spot on, used his weight for the header.RichShot wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 7:35 am https://youtube.com/shorts/I9hZ2Yy4q7I? ... fyxaioV5so
