Yes its a dreadful place, full of neo-nazi's and conspiracy theorists and read by Reform voting Daily Mail readers thinking nasty thoughts whilst being polite to everybody.
I just keep an account open because I find it the fastest way to get Shots match updates when I'm not at the game and unable to listen to the commentary. That's all, no participation in the sewer.
I don't use social media but I'm surprised the club doesn't post on BlueSky which was considered to be a Twitter/X alternative. Apparently they have an account but haven't used it in four months. I'd assume they'd have the ability to post directly to multiple social media feeds at the same time. Perhaps something our social media team could look into improving?
Isn't Bluesky just twitter for w⚓️s?
Should be perfect for some on here

A sad reflection of the nature of discourse today. Many cannot countenance an opinion that differs from theirs and they choose their media accordingly. It could be dismissed as puerile if it was not for a government here in the UK that has taken it a step further and heavily subscribes to the idea of persecuting those who dare to disagree and as a consequence is now being punished by a once steadfast ally.
I'm on both and Threads too....I enjoy varying arguments/discussions Image
It's a little sad that these platforms are information silo's. Subscribing to both to get a variety of perspectives is a luxury that hopefully will be available in the UK for the foreseeable future.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Ian Rust wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 9:40 am Following ATFC's rather limp Spring Water prank this morning, I felt suitably enthused (don't worry it won't last long) to pass on a rather good April Fool I saw this morning on Twatter.

It was from Andrew Bridgen - you know, the former Conservative MP that turned into a foaming at the mouth anti-vaxxer - well, he's re-twatted a twat this morning like he often does with a bit of grift saying "The truth is slowly emerging! Where are the Legacy Media?" Thing is the twat he's forwarded is a 'news' article with the headline "WHO admits that Monkeypox is a side effect of CV mRNA Vaccines"

As this knob Bridgen passes on misinformation on a daily basis, the conundrum is;
Did he re-twat it to his followers to continue the joke?
OR
Did he forwarded it because he'd swallowed the bait, hook an all?
This isn't a dig at you Ian, but I'm surprised you'd be on Twitter/X in that case, as it's known to be an echo chamber for right-wing beliefs.
What's wrong with right-wing beliefs ?
I didn't state there was anything wrong with it, did I? That's merely an assumption on your part.

I'm not on social media for a lot of reasons and one of those reasons is the fact that everything is far too political these days. Every social media website and media outlet (tv, newspapers, etc) has an agenda - be it left-wing or right-wing. You could argue that always been the case, however social media IMO has certainly amplified it.

Since Mr Musk took control of Twitter/X, it became very political with algorithms posting accounts and messages that align with his views. This happened to people who are only on there for football/music/silly videos.

A lot of that down to the change (which is easily rectified) of it displaying a ‘for you’ timeline rather than ‘people you follow’.

That’s not actually true though, is it? As we all know, freedom of speech does not mean freedom from responsibility or include hate speech.

Would be very interested for you to provide an authoritative/prove me example of this government action you are claiming. I’ll await this response.

Plus that ‘once steadfast ally’ has managed to get China, South Korea and Japan to cooperate together in response to their ‘punishments’.
