my thoughts exactly. I think Theo + Cam will do a job, Theo's done okay in recent matches after a bit of a dip, but yeah Anderson really seems to be improving. Hopefully he'll be about next season and can nail down a role in the middle.

A slow first 20 minutes when it looked like a team that hadn't played together and indebted to Dewhurst for some good saves. After that we slowly grew into the game and I thought Anderson, Laing and Corbett had their best games yet for us.

A shame not many turned up as this is the bread and butter for the club.

Anyway onto Saturday now and the big one.

Hmmm. By his standards that was good from Corbett but he's still got so much to learn. Some skill but poor football intelligence. Ellison motm for me.
Whenever I've had to listen to Steve Gibbs as a summeriser he drives me nuts with his performances so if he goes for Corbett as MOM I will definitely go for Anderson.

Great result Shots especially having rested 5 key players sets us up nicely for Saturday, also guaranteeing our place in the league for next season.

Only watched the second half as the clocks changing meant it started too early for my lazy arse. However, I thought there was a lot to like in what I saw;

Keane showed terrific energy as well as some good quality on the ball. There was one great tackle by him as a Fylde player advanced into the box, had to be inch perfect or it would have been a penalty. Terrific to have one of our academy players develop during the loan spells so that they look ready for our level.

Having Kwame back gave us a whole different option and he produced some good knockdowns and hold up play.

Ellison was terrific at the back, won everything in the air. Great to have him looking fully fit ahead of Woking. Laing was much improved too.

We're now in the top half of the table!

Steve Gibbs strikes again  . Corbett was energetic and provided an assist for Hentry, but was otherwise mostly ineffective and wasteful. Given LWB isn't his position but to suggest MOM is way off. Was glad he was substituted

Woodhouse, Ellison and Anderson in the mix for me.

hahahaha. Yeah, I can see that.

Anderson definitely looks the part. I have no idea what his intentions are for next season but I'd assume Tommy will tell him the midfield is his to run (assuming Cam gets a better offer).

Tommy will be delighted having rotated and rested some tired legs. Corbs at LWB worked well and he got an assist and had a shot tipped out the corner

Dewy made some good saves but fylde looked poor and we were clinical.

Keane Anderson was excellent I thought and my MoM

Momentum going into Saturday with fresh legs. A good night and job done. We were safe before tonight but that rubber stamps it.
Disagree with you about Fylde! They definitely didn’t look poor. Caused us enough problems and will probably feel unlucky they left with 0 points.

This is a tad harsh.

Initially tonight I wasn’t impressed with Corbett. But he set up the first goal for Henry after some neat work, improved, was a threat down the left, and almost scored a nice goal. Loved his commitment and effort.

Maybe, just maybe he can have a decent Shots career…

Agreed. I do worry about our defence against more clinical opponents. Once again the midfield contributed nothing to cover the defence. Not sure I’d say Anderson or Theo played well today, typical Theo performance of losing the possession more times than completing a pass and Anderson was bullied off the ball far too many times to be considered a NL standard player.

Agree

CM was weak

Too many easy shots from the edge of our area

His performance tonight summed up his season for me, looks good on the eye, and the odd flash of something decent, but mostly not NL standard. I lost count of the amount of time he ended up in a heap on the floor tonight trying to take on a player, and his set pieces just show how much we missed Barrets set pieces.

Corbett both produced moments of quality and moments of frustration. But he done far better than expected playing a position that he hasn’t played in, certainly not for us if ever.

Strong and skillful run and assist for the first goal, forced a great save from the keeper 2nd half and Henry almost flicked his header from Corbett’s cross in. Kai had an impact on the game so compared to his more anonymous early season appearances it’s a step in the right direction.
