Well done Shots Great second half performance the Substitutions seemed to make a big difference as well as the change of shape.
Laing is quite obviously a bit match rusty so for me if Ellison is fit I’d definitely start him ahead of Laing or try what we did in the second half moving Jones to back three right side and bringing Henry on, just can’t see him lasting 90minutes though so perhaps 60mins with Corbett coming on last half hour. Definitely looks more balanced with Frost on his normal side and R Jones on the left.

4 winnable home games, the usual 3 points at Woking, plus York and Barnet away with nothing to play for. If we beat Rochdale then I might start believing.....JOELC26 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 7:25 am A great result and a great run we are on credit to the management team and players as I thought we were down in February.
Again I’ll say it again with more mobility in midfield we are defending a bit better but also think has improved our attacking play.
Armitage and woodhouse have been fantastic at the back in recent weeks - interesting to see if possible to sign permanently in summer.
Pleased for Henry - he looked rusty on Saturday but could be like a new signing if he hits top form in the run in!
Those saying play offs - I don’t see it myself. I think the trophy will be a distraction and I think we would need to win 6 of last 8 games to make it.
70 points used to be the magic number for play offs and avoiding relegation was 50 points - shows how close the league is as I think 68 points for play offs and 54 to avoid relegation!

Have I missed the ritual 'Twenty Minutes of Hate' for one of the subs?
Or has that unatrractive destructive theme been dropped from the Shotsweb repertoire?

Far too much doom and gloom on here at times...

Exactly. A few weeks ago someone posted our remaining figures and we were on 29 points and I honestly struggled to find 21 more to get us to 50, and I was worried.Alex wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 8:49 amJust enjoy the win!!!latimeralder wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 8:44 am Have I missed the ritual 'Twenty Minutes of Hate' for one of the subs?

To get to 50 with 8 games still to play is a phenomenal achievement and our efforts as fans should be going into congratulating everyone involved in making that happen!
Incredible.

Just looking at the stats from the table we are the 4th highest goal scorers in the League but we have let in the 5th highest number of goals. There's rarely a dull game with no or few goals.

Pretty much what most of us were hoping for when having to put up with the dull stuff under previous managers.RedandBlueR wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 10:08 am Just looking at the stats from the table we are the 4th highest goal scorers in the League but we have let in the 5th highest number of goals. Most of our games now are definitely more exciting to watch.

Fantastic 2nd half & hopefully Henry coming back just at the right time with two cracking goals. 50 points 'The magic number' reached with 8 games left, who'd a thunk it!
COYS!!!!!
COYS!!!!!
and you may ask yourself, well....how did I get here?

Can't fault that second half performance. Lads dug in and played some great stuff. 2 points in the last 2 games would have been a poor return against the teams we played. 4 points is acceptable.

Another great win for the Shots, well done the manager, coaching staff and the team.
We have a very good manager and we should support him. The squad ot players have proved they are up to the job and not sub standard as some have suggested.
Perhaps the damaging negativity towards Mr Widdrington and his players will now stop.
We are also, dear I say it, within grasp of the playoffs which is an exciting prospect for us fans to enjoy.
Lastly, I am delighted to read the new current positivity on the Shotsweb, let`s keep it up.
PS Also well done to all our supporters who made the long cold trip to Wealdstone,I am sure the players wre inspired.

First 20 minutes was poor and Wealdstone did deserve their lead after that we had more possession but couldn't create anything with it going into half time. 2nd half was a completely different affair, we started to build a head of steam and the James Henry introduction couldn't have been more perfectly timed, once the equaliser came there was only one side that looked like they were going to win haven't seen many away performances live in person or via the tv but that was our most dominant half of football away from home that I've seen.

It's not often you can watch the Shots and relax, but that second half was one of them. We were in total control and at no point once we went 2-1 up did I think we would relinquish the lead. I thought the management of substitutions was excellent. At certain points there were subs stripped and waiting to come on that then sat down again once the goals went in. The in game management both on and off the field was exceptional.

The changes he's made I would suggest were enforced by injury or suspension...Silasgoldeen wrote:few things:
not news but it probably does go down as another data point in the "winning without Theo" file.
Tommy gets a lot of flak but I don't know too many managers who'd have been prepared to entrust the entire defence to teenagers when staring at the relegation places. That's been a massive change
Equally, I think most people were surprised when he sent Keane Anderson out again today. He was rewarded with a really classy performance that showed off Keane's passing and an ability to shoot and tackle
This is championship form and it's happening with a massive injury list - he deserves a lot of credit for that too
A few of us didn't think the team was as bad as the table suggested and I'm sure it's reasonable to argue that it's not as good as recent form suggests, but just as the manager took a lot of grief when we weren't getting over the line, he deserves credit now.
Would he have dropped his son?
Would he have dropped Maghoma and Scott for Armitage, Woodhouse and Ellison who I think are our best back three and would be have brought Keane Anderson back from his loan?
Personally I think he should have sent Corbett out on loan and brought in another Striker as well.
