We're delighted to announce that Josh Barrett's contract has been extended for a further year upon the activation of a club option!

Barrett has gained a reputation as the Shots' magician with some incredible goals scored this campaign as he battles James Henry in the race to the Shots Golden Boot with 17 goals this season.

The attacker's reached that tally in 42 games this season, taking his total appearances in a Shots shirt to 60.

On the extension, Barrett said: "Absolutely delighted to have my time extended at this brilliant football club."

"I just want to say how much I appreciate you all for not just the support I’ve received, but the whole team so thank you. Looking forward to ending the season strong and going again next year. JB❤️"

Tommy Widdrington added: "I’ve worked with JB previously, as people know, and been part of a staff that signed him on a couple of other occasions too so it’s fair to say I rate the lad."

"I’ve been told by many so called “people who know” about the things he can’t do but I prefer to concentrate on the things he can. They are much more pleasing on the eye!"

"Josh has proven to many how to lead by example this season and his performance has at times been sensational. I’m delighted he’s extending his stay here at Aldershot."

Barrett again, ole ole!

Good we have him covered then ,imagine if Tolaj walked away for nothing . Saying that looking how Vale and Tolaj are doing this season I don't think we got enough for him .

I don't think that Josh has the profile league clubs will be looking for.
Not sure he'll be the subject of any bids in the summer

Would be surprised if we were able to keep him.

Amazing news either way. He seems like a lovely bloke who gets the club (whatever that might mean). Some of his goals this season have been wonderful. That Woking free kick will live long in the memory but I loved the deliberate mishit lob the other week too. What a player.

Some posters were very quick to write him off earlier in the season, so this is the best way to say they got it wrong.
:D In my humble opinion..Just saying

I always said he was the most talented player in the squad, but looked like he was towing a caravan after 30 minutes of games. Now he’s sorted his fitness he’s our most influential player by a country mile.
