Support your family Club
Support your family Club
We all know being a Shots supporter is tough at the moment, but in tough times shouldn't we all be sticking together and backing the club to the hilt. A lot of supporters myself included identify with the club in a family scenario and one thing we generally don't do is turn your back on family. I know there's a lot of Shots who are looking to stay away but I would ask those that are thinking of not going to the Rec to think again as this will only hurt the club financially.
The club according to the last accounts had 1.4 million cash debt and shares owned by various large shareholders Circa 1 million No one is going to stump up the money to buy the club and realign it's finances. 3 million is what I feel is needed to buy out and kick on, so we are stuck with the status quo hence why I feel we need to support now in times of trouble.

Family, in my personal experience, has not always been a good thing, but I get and agree totally with the context of this post. Hope others do too.
Re: Support your family Club
I will see how we do at Oldham then be at the home game against Tamworth.
If the Tamworth game is anything like last night, or worse, I’ll probably be done.
I cannot keep turning up watching Theo stroll around pointing and waving whilst Frost and Hargreaves are left to sit on the bench doing nothing!
It’s not just Theo. Dewhurst kicking is getting worse, Akpan and Maghoma don't fully commit or defend properly as to me it looks like they’re trying to avoid injury, and nobody gets forward quick enough to support an isolated Barham.
Let’s change a few things and try something different!

Whilst I agree with your sentiments,WTF, it feels like groundhog day. Nearly every season for the past 10 years fans make rally calls to stand by the club. Most of us do and in our own way we contribute, but the club desperately needs to change. This isn't just a bad patch, it is a sustained period of time.
I feel like the club is being run into the ground, lacking any direction and ambition. Bar two seasons, we've had very little to cheer in over a decade.
I'll continue to support ATFC, and I'll hope for better days. I just feel completely disillusioned by it all right now.

Re: Support your family Club
Fully agree with the sentiment and I'm not walking away by any means. It's precisely because I love this club that I feel I have to advocate so strongly for change. I'll back this club to the hilt if I feel players and officials are pulling their weight and taking responsibility.
However as things stand, there's a toxic malaise in our club so players need to step up to the plate, and changes are needed to our management team. And if as suggested the BOD cannot be bought out, then new blood with fresh ideas needs to be brought into the Boardroom.

The ones who still attend have been incredibly loyal because quite frankly ATFC has been **** now for 12 years barring the 3 seasons that we cocked up right at the end!

Families don't sack family members. But we were only too pleased to sack Mark Molesley, Danny Searle, Dean Holdsworth, ...
Family members don't get sent packing when we don't want them any more, but players get sent packing all the time.
Family members don't leave and sign up with another family. Players do it all the time. Board members come and go.
Family members don't go out on loan to other families, and maybe switch allegiance permanently to the other family if it suits.
Families don't charge other family members an admission fee to come to family events. But ATFC does.
So no, ATFC is not a family. And none of us is beholden to support faithfully board members that you don't trust, managers and coaches that are making a pig's ear of their jobs, underperforming players, in the same way that you would seek to support your mother, father, sister, brother, ...

The Club need to look at bringing Abee back into the fold, of course, if he would be up for it. Shining bright lights into dark corners didn’t go down well last time, however, a lot of time has drifted under the bridge and pride needs to be swallowed by the BoD.WTF wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:42 pm We all know being a Shots supporter is tough at the moment, but in tough times shouldn't we all be sticking together and backing the club to the hilt. Been a shocking week. Wasted journeys last Saturday costing fans unnecessary travel expenses.
Abysmal performance on Tuesday putting us deeper in to trouble.
Club is in a mess. I would completely understand anyone who stays away to stop throwing money at something that gives no return.

I think Tommy is using us as HIS family club...

Re: Support your family Club
The club’s in crisis (again), and hopefully near a tipping point. As loath as I am to suggest it, a truly disastrous performance at Oldham may well precipitate some drastic action. Before it’s too late (again)…
I’ll always support the club, and defend them against the inevitable jeers and sneers, but I am increasingly disillusioned and detached. Family club.?….no

I think Abee had come out of retirement to help and it was some years ago so it might be a big ask. Why did the relationship end? Again, it’s a question that, however valid and important, was never fully answered.HackJowarth wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 11:12 pmThe Club need to look at bringing Abee back into the fold, of course, if he would be up for it. But your point is entirely valid. Abee’s involvement at the time seemed to have made a positive difference.

When Deane Wood came in we were told he had taken on the total club debt at that time of £750k. How can the debt now be 1.4 million?WTF wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:42 pm We all know being a Shots supporter is tough at the moment, but in tough times shouldn't we all be sticking together and backing the club to the hilt.
