It was disappointing that fans were getting their photos taken with the trophy in what looked like the EBB Lounge.
Why wasn’t that publicised?!

if there's no money there's no money, surely? I get that there's more they can do but aren't we in a space where the big changes we're all thinking about are probably beyond the scope of our current financial system, even best case scenario.Banbury Shot wrote: ↑Wed May 14, 2025 2:58 pmIf it does end up another missed opportunity then we really do not have the right people at the top. They failed to capitalise last year, now they have been given another chance. Let's hope they take it.hepcat wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 12:09 pmLets hope that it dawns on the council how big a pulling power the club is to the Town (lets be honest; there's nothing else at present that brings people To Aldershot other than the magistrates court) and helps with the redevelopment /gets things over the line .The Town could perhaps capture some of its old presteige with a lot of punters coming in for the football at least once a fortnight and what they'd spend in Town. A good redeveloped stadium would further underline the potential-and with it-the ambitions the club can have. A lot would buy into/come for that like they did on Sunday. It would be tragic if this ended up another missed opportunity.Cph.shots wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 9:08 am I've been watching a lot of the videos from yesterday evening and they look fantastic, what a turnout.
I really hope we can harness some of this "feel good" factor and attract some more regulars next season.
it might also help attract some players.
A great way to end the season, well done to everyone, I'm already looking forward to next season.

The question surely should be why is there no money?
10 years of doing the same thing and being told numerous times the club is being run sustainably... when Deane Wood came in we were making cut backs as we couldnt keep losing money.. indeed where would the club be without his loan...
Looks like last season we made another significant loss, despite some unprecedented income (however much) from an fa cup runs to 3rd round, including bbc coverage, West Brom game.... 4 players sold in season for significant sums... average attendances up 600 odd from year before....
We are told we are owed £200k (in our opinion) from a ticketing company... what the **** is that about?
Bottom 8 budget..
Carrying on the way things are and the text book Aldershot 'hope for the best' way is inevitably leading us to be a Nation League South club.
Last Sunday proved the potential of this club for anyone who has failed to see it over the years.. why are we seemingly the only club in this position?

I agree. It literally just doesn't add up. So what is being suggested is that without the bonus income you reference, we most certainly would have gone to the wall? If so, it doesn't bode too well for the future.Dom Sterlings Left Leg wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 11:43 am The question surely should be why is there no money?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Re: Open top bus tour details
well I doubt we are, but ultimately it just comes down to how much they are comfortable losing. If the average NL club was losing £700k-£1m in 23-24 and we've decided we can't cover that, well I don't know, what do you do? It's not that other teams are necessarily running sustainably I don't think, just that deeper pockets mean that bigger losses are acceptable. If the board feel they can cover what we do lose but no more then we are indeed stuck in a loop where the escape is down rather than up.Dom Sterlings Left Leg wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 11:43 am The question surely should be why is there no money?

Are the current incumbents to blame for the losses or do they just not have the personal wealth to cover what would inevitably happen under any regime.
It’s an interesting conundrum we face based only on the publicly available information. We need to generate something like £15k - £20k a week to cover basic running costs whilst having no access to funds for capital projects (pitch renovations, toilet block rebuilds etc). If fans were to take over running the club how could we generate the revenue needed to break even with no capital to invest upfront and with just the assets we see at every home game?

Abee was suggesting a bit of both as I recall, and as someone who's been there and done it, I think he's best placed to judge.Gone West wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 12:26 pm Are the current incumbents to blame for the losses or do they just not have the personal wealth to cover what would inevitably happen under any regime.

On the second point this is exactly it isn't it? Need to hit on some players and hope league clubs are spending.

Would you have gone or is it just something else you can moan about?FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 11:30 am It was disappointing that fans were getting their photos taken with the trophy in what looked like the EBB Lounge.
Why wasn’t that publicised?!
Weren't the pictures from the EBB part of the Monday evening celebrations?
Maybe all a bit spontaneous as it was only one day after the game.
PS: We won 3-0 and most supporters seem quite happy about it.

It will be interesting to see how much they increase prices by and the accompanying justification... I wonder if the word sustainable will be used..
With the budget looking at best the same 'bottom 8' one and the retained list published today it's hard to see much more than the same next season in respect of our league performance.
If so at a higher price its inevitable average crowds will return back towards 2000 and purely speculating maybe any additional revenue would be largely wiped out by a lower average.

Who said I didn’t go?
I know it was part of the Monday evening celebrations! Where have I said otherwise?
The point I was making was that we weren’t told that the EBB Lounge would be open - unless I totally missed the announcement - so many people missed the opportunity to see and hold the trophy.
Lastly, I’ve seen many many negative comments on here on many subjects, but I don’t see you ripping into other posters, so should I be honoured or worried?!

To confirm Phil’s point, there’s nothing about the EBB lounge here: https://www.theshots.co.uk/trophy-bus-p ... ng-at-7pm/FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 2:09 pmYou do like making incorrect assumptions!Cph.shots wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 2:06 pmWould you have gone or is it just something else you can moan about?FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 11:30 am It was disappointing that fans were getting their photos taken with the trophy in what looked like the EBB Lounge.

Apparently we can get photos but not touch the trophy next Saturday when the bar opens, which raises questions about the photographs of the ‘chosen’ fans holding and kissing it on the Monday night…

I was also going to make the point about people attending the EBB Lounge next Saturday not being able to touch the Trophy.
I bet that rule wasn’t applied when the Trophy was taken to some pubs and businesses lately!!

FP, "ripping in", think you're being a tadge over sensitive.
I didn't make any assumptions about you, I asked.
Making yourself out to be a victim is pretty cheap but that's up to you.
I don't have a "hit list" , just felt that your criticism of the club is a bit over the top but that's just my opinion.
