No affiliation at all, if they had one it would be mentioned in the programme.

This has been caused because the organiser of the Away Group is a volunteer at the club and does a lot of good work for the club, I would not complain if he was allocated a ticket before the ballot, but he should not be allowed to make certain that the other members get preferential treatment.

As I said before how many of the 195 tickets will actually make it into the ballot?
The club has done everything to the best of its ability to make this as fair as possible
Disagree.

Not fair allocating tickets to the Away Travel Group!

The away travel group season ticket holders should get first dibs over any once in a while away supporter, they've earned it. This will be followed by corporates and who do you know at the club; and don't forget the players allocation. I reckon 100 will be left for season ticket holders.

There arn't many cases of away ties in the FA Trophy where the away numbers have been given, the only cases are last season when we were away Eastleigh and Bishop's Stortford in the early rounds, both unattractive like Sittingbourne but the away support at both was over 400.

I await your retraction.
You’ll wait a while I’m afraid. Eastleigh would always attract numbers, and BS is a decent day out. From what I see, Sittingbourne is an awful ground, in the middle of nowhere with poor transport links and no pubs. This is clearly a game for the diehards and I stand by my comment about not taking 200.

I do agree with you regard re the Away Travel group though, up until a couple of years ago I didn’t miss a game, home and away including friendlies, for 10 years. I travelled independently all those times and I would be fuming if a group had been given priority over tickets in that time. There should be no exceptions, ST holders that want a ticket should go in a ballot, then the rest on general sale. I’ll wager now, everyone who travels on that bus will get a ticket.
What on earth makes BS “a decent day out”?
Nice part of the world, a decent golf course for a round with friends before the game and a good pub for lunch. Football less important.

All supporters are equal.
They are different to you. They are members of the Away Travel Group and you are not.

All supporters aren't equal. Some buy season tickets, some don't. Some are members of the Away Travel Group, some aren't. Some do volunteer work for the Club, most don't.

FFS, just accept that tickets are severely limited and lots of us are going to miss out. The Club are simply trying to do a reasonable job of giving deserving supporters some chance of getting to the game. It seems they can't do right for doing wrong.

Yes, they travel to support the team. Of course others (like me) travel to away games too but do so independently. The Club don't have an obvious and easy way to verify that.

Most would have been at Solihull and Oldham, hence my belief that those that go the extra yard should be rewarded. Just my view Alex!

Are the 'away travel group' an official thing then? I thought they were just a group that run their own coach to games...??

I don't think they are "official", no. What they obviously are is supporters who are prepared to travel to away games. Good luck to them if the Club chooses to make a small allocation to the season ticket holders among them.

I am bemused by the apparent idea that it’s OK to prioritise ST holders but not if they are also members of the Away Travel Club. That makes no sense.

At least you have a reasoned view, Brian unlike Alex who just shouts "disagree".

Unfortunately this is part and parcel of modern day football for alot of fans. I guess the fact this happens so rarely for Aldershot fans is one positive.
Truth is there is no solution to do this that pleases everyone.

I have season tickets at two clubs who have this issue every away game. One puts the 500 or so allocation they get for away games on sale via the ticket portal to the 14,000 plus season ticket holders and the best of luck to you.
The other distributes their 1,500 or so allocations through 112 regional supporters club on a points system (firstly the points gained by the SC, then allocated to their members based on their points).

One is completely random, the other more structured but essentially creates a 'closed shop' of regulars. Neither is ideal. But what is the alternative?

I think the point is if a group went to every away game by train and call themselves the away train travel group would the season ticket holders among them be given a small allocation of tickets?

Disagree. What about the fans that have been to every away game and made their own way there and not on a non affiliated to club supporters coach

I would say there are 80 that go to virtually all the away games. If I was in charge and knowing them all I would make sure they got a ticket before corporates, directors mates and players. Hope that covers it all now.

They well might if the Club knew of their existence and could verify that they were a bona fide group. Isn't that the point?
