I believe the problem is we don’t know if he could have scored at our level as - rightly or wrongly - he wasn’t given the opportunities.

I thought Stuttle always had more of a physical presance on the little time he had on the pitch. Noted County away proved his capabilities.

The management team saw him in training every day. Perhaps they thought he wasn’t good enough?

Then why take him on loan? They said they had been trailing him for a while.

They did indeed state they’d been trailing him for a while.

Not every signing that a club makes works out as they had hoped. Yes, they said that they had been trailing him and when he was signed I’m sure that TW had good expectations of him. However for whatever reasons (feel free to speculate away) it didn’t work out. Was it (speculating mode) the player, was it the management, was it the training, why wasn’t he given more game time, did he ask to be recalled?

With regard to my first sentence, much bigger clubs than us (I’m thinking of the PL) have signed players for multi-million pounds. Not all of them have been successful and they’ve been moved on for a financial loss. So, signing players that don’t work out is not unique to us.

That tired old one is always trotted out when a player of obvious capability is not getting picked. What counts is what a player does in competitive matches. From what we saw of Jonny Stuttle in actual matches, he looked well worth more game time.

So to that end, Widds Jnr must be like Messi in training then?

Alex MacAllister banged in a hat-trick today for Alton in their 3-2 win over Redhill. He recently joined the Brewers from Hartley Wintney.
