I agree with Brian on what is theoretically achievable with good management (and perhaps a little luck).

As an example, Cambridge United. In their penultimate season in the Conference, they had attendances as low as 1700 and were averaging around the 2000 mark.

The club now is run very differently and with a bit of luck of having an FA Cup game Vs Manchester United where they then enticed people to purchase half season tickets in order to guarantee a ticket for the Manchester United game (which obviously encouraged more people to attend more games that season and become part of their Saturday afternoon) and some other good initiatives (plus a winning team), they have in recent seasons been getting attendances generally between 5000 and 8000.

We've never taken advantage of good moments that we've had in our history and things now seem very bleak.

That's very true. Additionally the Club is forever restricted by an underlying lack of resources and infrastructure.

The squad lost some real talent from last season. Never easy. We need some League wins, and soon.
Logic has no place in being a Shots supporter!

We are back. Bloomin' back! Who'd have thought it!

Following season first home game v Bournemouth in the football league 1500 less than the Weymouth game which was incredibly bizarre
All ticket no tickets allowed to be bought on the day resulting in a 4511 gate ? I think
Yes which for me was the beginning of all this pathetic unnecessary all ticket nonsense, otherwise we probably would have got 6k again that afternoon
That was the final season that I purchased a season ticket. The club posted the season tickets late, and they were not due to be delivered until the day before game. The club sent the season tickets with insufficient postage. This meant the post office didn't deliver and held the package at the sorting office. I couldn't collect until Monday after game, and I had to fund the shortfall.

It's sad the state of the club on and off the pitch at present and a scandal after having generated so much extra revenue last season . Having also watched Shots from 1976, I agree we could grow our crowds which even now are surprisingly good considering the dire league form. However we need a BOD that can show ambition and leadership, not to mention maintaining good communication and relations with the fans. I've always backed Tommy but he's not helping himself with the unsubtle digs at fans and seeming to downplay the precarious league position we have been in for some time.

You make some very salient points Alf. The crowds in truth, have held up well for several seasons now. For me the manager shows an arrogance towards the fan base in his interviews...

If the BoD could get the trust of fans on board, we could have a better club again.

The best opportunity the club had of making strides, in my opinion, was after the win away at Orient under GW, taking Aldershot top of the NL.

That squad of players was strong in all departments...the dream went pop after that win at Orient sadly

I'd forgotten about that. The club has always been a shambles, even before Shahid took the reigns.

Not sure what’s worse, the state of ATFC or Royal Mail, it’s a no wonder I’m disturbed 😦

You can’t say that. Everything was ticking along nicely before he turned up. 😙 😄

Read Graham Brookland’s book especially the buildup to administration. Kris Machala was the majority shareholder and he wanted to bring in his preferred choice of administrators but thanks to the McGinty family they were able to bring in their choice of administrators as the money that John McGinty had lent the club had been as a secured loan. So yes, he was on the board but KM was already leading us into administration.

Azeem was on the inside and could have spoken up about the issues but he decided to remain quiet....
I've often had the thought that maybe going into administration suited his end game?
Never trusted him and never will.
