That seems to be your personal definition of pessimism, WB. It isn't a definition that you will find in any reputable dictionary or thesaurus (with apologies for that last word to those of a nervous disposition who take any hint of Latin as an attempt to browbeat them into intellectual submission).

Reputable sources tend not to use words like "downer" in a definition
