Absolutely spot on and the best on this thread.

We could always start a thread about the NL Cup, couldn’t we……..?

Another pointless thread again and again!
Re: Widds Jr.
Indeed it is pointless because the more we complain the more likely his dad is to pick him. That’s how it works with TW.

Do you believe Tommy picks Theo on his football ability alone ?.Silasgoldeen wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 9:15 amDo you really believe this?

Re: Widds Jr.
do you believe he's more likely to pick him because people complain? I don't. That sounds completely barmy to me to the point where I wonder about the people suggesting it.lowerbourneshot wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 9:57 amDo you believe Tommy picks Theo on his football ability alone ?.
Do I think he is inclined to favour his own flesh and blood? Yes. It seems natural that he'd think highly of his own son. I think my kids are amazing. As has been discussed ad nauseum, this is an issue. But overrating your son isn't the same as picking him because people complain, which would be nuts. As would suggesting that Theo wasn't injured, or that Theo playing golf is upsetting team culture, and some of the many other suggestions we see on here from people who I'm sure are otherwise reasonable people.

Many people would say it’s nuts to think TW picks Theo because he’s his son. That’s your view though. All about opinions.Silasgoldeen wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 10:46 amdo you believe he's more likely to pick him because people complain? I don't. Re: Widds Jr.
There’s nothing pointless about this thread. Those defending Theo need to give their head a wobble, the guy is a charlatan and a liability. he’s cheating a living from our club and we as fans should not tolerate it.
- Top in the KPIs for simple sideways and backward passes.
- Shouts obscenities at the fans who pay his wages (and their kids).
- Regularly gets carded, only silver lining being that he is regularly suspended.
- Can’t tackle or head a ball for toffee.
- Almost never spots a dangerous pass to a running forward.
- Continually caught out of position leaving others to clear up his mess.
- Offers no meaningful cover to the backline.
- Fakes an injury when it suits his own agenda.
- Goes on a luxury break instead of supporting team mates when he's clearly not injured.
- Far more interested in golf on YouTube than anything to do with ATFC.
Any other player would have been turfed out months ago. His presence at the club is toxic and the Chairman needs to grow a pair and deal with it soon, or we will still be effectively playing with 10 men this time next year. If that means sacking Tommy then so be it.

The irony of a thread about a topic asking people to stop discussing that topic!
But ultimately, the Theo topic will come up again and again, be that on a new topic, or a match day thread, or wherever else it is relevant all the time it remains relevant.
A lot of people feel very frustrated by Theo being in the team and I think the fact that his dad is the manager is almost a bit of a blind spot to the debate. The fact is we paid a fee for this player. When we all know that ATFC survives very much on a tight rope when it comes to finances, people are obviously going to be frustrated if they think that money is being squandered.
For a player to have a fee paid for them we expect something worthy of that fee. Think of when we paid a fee for Gary Abbott. That received a lot of criticism or at the very least raised eyebrows at the time. But was soon quashed by the quality of what he provided.
The only way this topic goes away whilst Theo remains at the club is for him to start playing at a level that justifies his fee. I'd be thinking something along the lines of a Steve Watson type performer in that central midfield role. Theo is a long way short of that at present.

Re: Widds Jr.
An interesting comparison. I can't think of another player we've had that he could actually be compared to. He's not really a Les Briley type or a Dave Osgood type so I'm thinking perhaps more Andy Massey? Some on here old enough will remember Andy Massey's qualities........Jason wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 3:49 pm The irony of a thread about a topic asking people to stop discussing that topic!

Sam Hatton, Hugh McAuley, Chris Nurse, Bertie Brayley. Lee Holsgrove (judging by the similar fan reactions)…Mytshot wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 5:09 pmAn interesting comparison.
