Should stick. Too late in the season now to change and a change could be more unsettling for the team. Also the cost implication.Sean Chambers wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 12:00 amDo you think we should stick or twist Brian?brian bloomfield wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 11:32 pm Been in relegation form since last February.A year now.
I'm going to cut some slack here for TW. Southend's budget is I would imagine 150% more than ours and we went toe to toe with them. We didn't deserve to win in my opinion because our defence kept it from being a rout in the first 30 minutes. The effort from the team was there to see, 100% hard graft.
Next season the club need somehow to increase the budget by 500k and reinvigorate the club, otherwise it will be same as. The current debt (as of now) will determine the BOD ability as businessmen to manage a transition to success. Plan to succeed not to tread water.
Things they could do
1. Bring leadership to the forefront of the club. NIL cost
2. Have a robust PR and supporters communication plan. NIL cost
3. Bring in a CEO on no cost who may be retired and who could increase base commercial income by 100k.
4. Bring in a Chairman in from the fan base who could remove the incessant negativity surrounding the club. NIL cost
5. Bring 3 competent directors on board who can spend a minimum 10 hours a week on increasing the clubs financial performance.
6. Engage positively with the Supporters Club, help them grow as an entity and allow them to have a critical voice when necessary.
7. Close the South Stand and Wallys bar before it's closed by the council and build a Black Bull in its previous location.
8. Stop the current build plans and revisit identifying with the council location opportunities or a total replan of the current scheme.
9. Appoint a Company Secretary to cover all administrative requirement re legal matters. (Like a Simon Groves)
10. Be upfront and honest with the fan base on problems, you may be surprised what help could be out there
etc etc

Shahis Azeem won't do anything that suggests that he and his board might have failed. Look at the back story and the profile he has worked hard at creating for himself. Let's hope he is able to congratulate himself at the end of the season.

Disagree with number 7 as I sit there and its the best view in the ground lol. If they building a Black Bull again hopefully won't be the issues like they previously had?

Agree with the first sentence Brian but in the second sentence did you really mean Southend's budget could be 150% more than Aldershot's?brian bloomfield wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:45 amShould stick. That's two and half times our budget........I would guess perhaps 50% is more like it.

Southend attendances are nearly 3 times more than ours for starters. Then take replica shirt sales etc and it soon mounts up.abee wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 11:44 amAgree with the first sentence Brian but in the second sentence did you really mean Southend's budget could be 150% more than Aldershot's?brian bloomfield wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:45 amShould stick. Re: When can we expect the announcement?
Yippee re Brian's '......things they could do'
This is what I've been banging on about for the past few weeks. The real issue is the hubris of the main board where they clearly believe that Messrs Azeem, Leppard and Wood are the best and only people to run the club (I was tempted to add 'into the ground'). They are not and there is a lot of wasted talent possibly available within the support base. The board needs help but are too suspicious of the fan base to seek it. The Supporters Club needs to get energised, start living up to its Mission Statement and are probably the best entity to approach the chairman and board to ask 'Are you happy with everything on and off the field? We assume not and this is how we can help'.
They then present a list of possible starters based upon Brian's 'things they could do'.
I can confidently say from experience that numbers 3,4,5,6,9,10 can mostly be done from working at home and any takers would not have to be at the ground every day after say the first two weeks.

If ours is say £800k then he's suggesting that Southend's is £2m. I don't believe it.
If they really have that sort of playing budget then their team management is seriously underperforming.
Re: When can we expect the announcement?
And that's the point. We were playing a team 11th in the league. Despite their supposedly huge budget, they're not actually that good.abee wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 12:05 pmBrian was talking playing budget I presume.margateshot wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 11:57 amSouthend attendances are nearly 3 times more than ours for starters. If you take the average 7000 and times it by say £15.00 it comes out at nearly 2.5 million. Don't forget, they don't pay their taxes either lolabee wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 12:05 pmBrian was talking playing budget I presume.margateshot wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 11:57 amSouthend attendances are nearly 3 times more than ours for starters. Re: When can we expect the announcement?
Definitely what's needed but I believe that the overall suggestion that the BoD/Club could be reinforced from talent within the fan base will go down like a cup of cold sick. There have been decades where this could have been a winning strategy (there have been offers of quality help to my knowledge, and they were likely not the only ones) so why would it be considered now?abee wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 12:03 pm Yippee re Brian's '......things they could do'
