A win today will take us up to 57 points one point more than much maligned manager Barry Smith achieved when he was with us for just the one season.

With about 40% of the budget. Hopefully TW can get the BOD to give him a 1.5m budget to compete at the top.fredandballou wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 11:52 am A win today will take us up to 57 points one point more than much maligned manager Barry Smith achieved when he was with us for just the one season.

Indeed. I don’t remember Barry having the benefit of a couple of hundred thousand in player sales, money from cup runs or an extra thousand through the turnstiles. He did a great job all things considered and without any drama.brian bloomfield wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 12:02 pmWith about 40% of the budget. The end-of-season player awards will be made on the pitch at 2.40pm.

He’s not “much maligned” by me and I would suggest not by that many others either. He did what could in financially trying circumstances. If he could’ve achieved a better home record rather than away then I’m of the view that he’d be getting more credit.fredandballou wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 11:52 am A win today will take us up to 57 points one point more than much maligned manager Barry Smith achieved when he was with us for just the one season.

Has TW had this benefit though ? How can Brian say that Barry Smith had 40% of the budget that TW has had ? Unless he is privy to what the BOD had given TW, he is just guessing in the wind.Mytshot wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 12:10 pmIndeed. Why no interview from management pre the Yeovil game. The plot thickens.

I wonder if ‘no drama’ sums it up. We just didn’t look like scoring in Barry’s time - although we were far better than under Searle or Molesley!Mytshot wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 12:10 pmIndeed. IIRC Brian was on the BOD during the Barry Smith time and I wouldn't be surprised if he knows more than we do under the current regime.Graham Stovold wrote:Has TW had this benefit though ? Or we could drop to 20th and one place above the relegation zone.fredandballou wrote:A win today will take us up to 57 points one point more than much maligned manager Barry Smith achieved when he was with us for just the one season.

From TW’s programme notes today:
“I am delighted to let you know that I will be your manager for the foreseeable future and look forward to our continued journey together”

Hopefully the club haven't quietly given him a contract extension on the quiet.....He certainly needs to improve his signings and our league form for next season if it's going to be beyond the 25/26 season.Mytshot wrote:From TW’s programme notes today:

I wasn’t a fan of his although his away record was very good. Some of the performances at home now that’s near left for another day.fredandballou wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 11:52 am A win today will take us up to 57 points one point more than much maligned manager Barry Smith achieved when he was with us for just the one season.
If he hadn’t had decided to leave for personal reasons they was a real chance that he would have still been the Manager the following season.
