Been to Molyneux 4 times with the old and new club. What a transformation in their ground over the 25 year span compared to ours, let alone 38 years that have now passed.Peter macdonald wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 8:37 amThey quickly recovered from our beating, they were back in the second division by 89,Steve Bull loved it!brian bloomfield wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 8:19 am 86-87 the best season ever

Indeed, the ground from memory did look old and tired in 87 but as you say they turned things around very impressively after suffering 3 relegations in a row, 84,85 and of course 86 before from their point of view the disappointment of little Aldershot beating them in the very first play off season in 87, they took it well if I remember correctlybrian bloomfield wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 8:49 amBeen to Molyneux 4 times with the old and new club. Yes, Aldershot finished 6th, 9 points behind Wolves and there was an impressive crowd of 20,000 at the second leg away.Peter macdonald wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 8:57 amIndeed, the ground from memory did look old and tired in 87 but as you say they turned things around very impressively after suffering 3 relegations in a row, 84,85 and of course 86 before from their point of view the disappointment of little Aldershot beating them in the very first play off season in 87, they took it well if I remember correctlybrian bloomfield wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 8:49 amBeen to Molyneux 4 times with the old and new club. Most Wolves fans seemed convinced that it was a mere formality to overturn the 2-0 advantage Shots had from the first leg.
Perhaps about 5,000 Shots fans there (?) penned in their Main Stand and definitely in the minority, coincidentally I came across the match programme a few weeks back whilst sorting stuff out.
It all kicked off at the end with more than 40 people arrested....Happy days!

Yes:1986! Thought it was 87 as I recall my other half was expecting our Daughter. Maybe I have her birthday wrong…..Peter macdonald wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 7:17 amWolvesFuggletim wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 4:18 am Still out of UK so listened to most of the match on the radio. Disappointing result maybe, but I was of the understanding before the game that Ebbsfleet needed a win to retain their NL status and anything else would mean pretty much it.
As such they played a raised game and perhaps we should have anticipated that a bit more?
I recall in 1987 being at Molineux to see Wolves play one of their best games of football in the relegation clash with Cardiff City. Despite the result (think Wolves won 4-2 or something like that) both sides went down to Division 4 (I think we know a bit about the next few years). You had to say though that if Wolves had played that well all season, they would not have been relegated. Point is that with so much at stake, Ebbsfleet knew they had to do something; they did, but it wasn’t enough.
We still talk about relegation on here. Possibility yes, but I think very remote now. I just cannot see all the teams below us all turning it round anymore than an ATFC collapse.and Cardiff went down in 86

Always thought we had about 2000 at Molyneux, maybe my memory is falling.Frimley Green Shots wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 9:53 amYes, Aldershot finished 6th, 9 points behind Wolves and there was an impressive crowd of 20,000 at the second leg away.Peter macdonald wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 8:57 amIndeed, the ground from memory did look old and tired in 87 but as you say they turned things around very impressively after suffering 3 relegations in a row, 84,85 and of course 86 before from their point of view the disappointment of little Aldershot beating them in the very first play off season in 87, they took it well if I remember correctlybrian bloomfield wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 8:49 am

May 84 a 1 0 win at Anfield steve mardenbourgh in Div 1 was the scorer 27 months later a 2 1 win at Aldershot, how quickly things changePeter macdonald wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 8:57 amIndeed, the ground from memory did look old and tired in 87 but as you say they turned things around very impressively after suffering 3 relegations in a row, 84,85 and of course 86 before from their point of view the disappointment of little Aldershot beating them in the very first play off season in 87, they took it well if I remember correctlybrian bloomfield wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 8:49 amBeen to Molyneux 4 times with the old and new club. From TW programme notes yesterday:
"As with Christian and Olly the previous week, WE ALL of course hope Theo won't be out of action too long. He was fortunate not to suffer a break"
Unless I'm mistaken he went down in the centre circle with no one else around him. Genuinely, did I miss a tackle on him or something?

I’m glad he’s not suffered a long term problem and wish him well.Mytshot wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 10:34 am From TW programme notes yesterday:

However, I’d rather he continues his footballing career away from Aldershot!

Absolute farce we know he was taking himself out the firing line ,I'm told he actually put up on his Instagram he was out in Weybridge the night of the Gateshead game . Now if that's true I don't do Instagram. He is actually mocking us .Mytshot wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 10:34 am From TW programme notes yesterday:

As some on here have already mentioned, he’ll be the first name on the team sheet against Woking, unfortunately.
He got a bit lucky close to the end of the game yesterday, grabbing an Ebbsfleet player on the edge of our area then tried throwing him to the floor.
The bloke is a walking disaster and always not far from getting a red card!

Either it's true, or someone will be on here to categorically deny it.lowerbourneshot wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 10:50 amAbsolute farce we know he was taking himself out the firing line ,I'm told he actually put up on his Instagram he was out in Weybridge the night of the Gateshead game . I’ve never seen a player come back so quickly after going off on a stretcher. It’s no coincidence that he went down so soon after the incident…Mytshot wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 10:34 am From TW programme notes yesterday:
