Agreed, Steve. Everyone played well and Olly was no exception. I was also impressed by Josh running hard as late as the 70th minute.
Nice to wake up on a Sunday morning and think: Hey, we got 3 points yesterday ... and we played well. Good feeling.

Any footage of the penalty incident and the punch which everyone saw except the officials?

First half he played a few good passes, but once again seemed nowhere near the ball when Alty attacked and was often watching them play around us.
Exactly this, it's so frustrating watching the opposition play through the midfield with ease while he jogs and sidestep round in circles without picking anyone up. It was infuriating at times in the first half yesterday.

Credit where it's due, he stepped up and did a good job at CB in the 2nd half.

I'm sire Tetek will be back o the bench Tuesday as we revert to type with Theo and Maghoma in the positions they've made their own
This was my thought as well, first half I don’t recall a single tackle, block, interception or header he won in midfield. Made a couple of good passes through the lines but other than that the game just went on around Theo first half. Second half he did step up and done the job at CB until the alty goal.

For me the only reason Tetek will be on the bench, is more to do with the inability to get 90 minutes out of him. A fit, injury free Tetek probably wouldn’t be at our club.

Byrd has been out of the side for the past couple of games, I would rather see him in the side rather than Maghoma, but then I’m not the manager 😏
:D In my humble opinion..Just saying

It was a game where the positives of Theos game certainly outweighed his weaknesses and for me was a perfect example of why I struggle to know which side of the fence to fall with him when he gets discussed on here. I have said in the past that whilst any player has to accept criticism when they have a bad game I do think he gets more than is sometimes justified and that's probably because of who he is.

In regards to Tommy's interview he shouldn't be getting involved with what fans are saying unless fans are making racist or other discriminatory comments which they are not then comments about performance being shouted out are just part of football and as an ex player he should know that and ignore it. Yesterday should have been about celebrating a win over the opposition on the pitch not celebrating a win over critics in the terraces.

It’s interesting regarding Byrd, because he can’t be injured otherwise he wouldn’t be in the team and I personally think he’s been a good defender so far. I get the logic of having a left footer as LCB which is probably why Olly Scott is playing there, although his shorter stature was a mismatch for the Gateshead first goal last week. Byrd hasn’t played as the central of the 3 but Menayese could have moved across from right to central, but I guess you don’t want to shuffle the defence too much particularly as Menayese was having a good game on the right side.

The issue with Theo is that his dad has painted himself into a corner by making him captain. The captain doesn't get dropped and that's the unwritten rule at every club, not just ours. For that reason, the captain is usually one of the best players or in a position like goalkeeper or centre-back that tends not to be "rotated".

Theo isn't one of our best players and if you think that's being harsh, ask everyone here to nominate their top 3* (mine would be Dewhurst, Henry and Barham) and see how many nominations Theo gets. But he's the captain, so is always picked. This leaves room for suspicion and query which is awkward when the manager has a familial relationship with a player.

Edited to add: if a new member appears called "Tommythegeordie" and says his top 3 are Widdrington, Maghoma and promising young "striker" Maxwell Mullins, be very suspicious.

Marcus I do agree with your post and to be clear I did say in my post that I do struggle with what to think about Theo. I was only saying that the level of criticism sometimes exceeds the dissapointment of some of his performances. (Hope that makes sense).

His choice as Captain does seem an odd one but one can only assume that behind the scenes he is a motivator and a leader. The only one's who could really answer that would be other players.

I will add that I have never been a fan of family members working together as employees in any business setting unless their responsibilities do not overlap. Accusations of nepotism will always be made whether fair or unfair its a natural result of the circumstances.

Unfortunately, I don't think any player would likely come out and give an answer other than "he's a natural leader" because of who his dad is.
It's a conflict of interest for sure.

Off on a tangent but at work we've a manager who is married to a senior manager, who is also her boss. No one is comfortable complaining about how she operates because who do you complain too? Further more, they frequently holiday with the head of HR.

Well done to Tommy, his staff and the players. The team have taken alot of stick lately and the last 2 results could be the start of a run. We have Dagenham on Tuesday who might have 1 eye on the fa cup plus they had a players sent off yesterday. Let's get a result on Tuesday and the league table could start to look a little bit more comfortable.
