The Premier League has conditioned fans to think that winning cups doesn’t matter.
We haven’t won anything for 17 years and it could be even longer before we do so again. The club and fans are right to enjoy every moment and not take it for granted.
I’m looking forward to going along this evening.

As the map they’ve shown has no road names on, it would have helped if the route was listed, especially for those who aren’t familiar with the layout of the town.

I certainly isn't very clear and they should have made it clearer. But my guess would be to look at the mile markers on the map to work out the direction of travel.redblueuptoyou wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 3:33 pmI was saying this - and which direction the bus will go in first?FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 3:26 pm As the map they’ve shown has no road names on, it would have helped if the route was listed, especially for those who aren’t familiar with the layout of the town.
So towards the North Lane shops first, then around the A331 roundabout before back towards the town and railway station then back along the high street at up the the stadium.

I think this is a great thing to do, I agree about promotion being better but the trophy specially at Wembley is far better than the Ryman and Hampshire cup wins!

A win in any competition is special and important in its own right. In my view we should not think anything is any better than something else.Peter macdonald wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 3:56 pm I think this is a great thing to do, I agree about promotion being better but the trophy specially at Wembley is far better than the Ryman and Hampshire cup wins!

Not sure why there’s any negativity. Wembley was great, the club did itself proud, the fans were great and I’ve taken the night off work to celebrate and am sat in the garden of the Crimea having a beer in the sunshine. Meridian TV just rocked up and asked if they can film here later this evening. It’ll be buzzing. Oh, Mark Butler’s here with a smile the size of the M25.

I can't believe the negativity on this thread.
We are all Aldershot supporters (presumably) and given the level that we've played at for most of our 99 year history or even 33 year history if we just consider ATFC the FA Trophy is a big deal. It is a national competition, with a final at Wembley. If we don't consider winning that worthy of an open top bus parade, then nothing we will ever achieve will likely to meet that criteria.
In addition, we always complain that the club don't do enough to attract new fans, but this is one such opportunity. Getting to Wembley, winning the FA trophy is the sort of thing we need to capitalise on. We need to tap in to that feel good factor and continue to advertise the club to the town. Get more and more people to the club on a regular basis.
Just think, if we continued to average around 2400 people with an average ticket price of sat £15, taking into account concessions and 23 games per season, that is gate receipts of £828,000. If we changed that to averaging 7000 people every week, that is gate receipts of £2,415,000. That's a big difference in our wage budget and quality of player we can attract.
There was a decent number that turned out tonight and a very positive atmosphere created. Let's hope this is the start of some more positivity around the club and the town, so well done to ATFC for putting it all on.
