Aldershot Town v Farnborough Town (Monday 16th April 2001)

Post by Aldershot »

Sarah has uploaded another Shots video to her YouTube channel. This time 10 minute highlights from a game in 2001 against Farnborough Town. I don't recall a non-league highlights show on Sky Sports. How long did that last? I know they used to show live games every now and again but I don't recall in depth highlights.

For anyone wanting to see the video this is the link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQJo89Y7uh8

Genuine question - was this filmed from the BT building next door? The height of the camera makes me feel like it was. Nice to see the old slam door trains passing in the background. Takes me back to memories of The Rec back in the 1990s and the washing machine on the South Stand!

The club used to park a cherry picker lorry on one side or the other of the offices, with the camera platform positioned well up above the North Stand. It provided a good vantage point, but it all got a bit wobbly up there when the wind started blowing!

Ahh thanks chimpster99. I did wonder. Decent view but as you say it must have been a bit dicey in the wind!

Farnborough cheating with a handball in the build-up to their goal and a cracking free-kick for the Shots equaliser!

It all looked a bit untidy, but it does give a far better angle than the one we currently use in the South Stand.

Thanks for posting the link, that was a lovely nostalgia hit.
