It's going to be the most amazing, weird and funny day out ... at least until kick-off! If the lads can do the business on the field then it could be the best day imaginable.

Won't be far short of the number of fans Peterborough took to Wembley recently for their cup final v Birmingham
And well done Spennymoor nearly 4000 tickets sold now that's a great effort by them considering the extra distance and costs involved 👏
and Richard Walden puts the Shots 1-0 up against Man Utd

A football fan has paid £1,000 to help others travel to Wembley for an FA Trophy final.

Lifelong Spennymoor Town FC fan Gary Finley said he had to "follow his heart" and pay transport costs for more than 65 fans going to watch their team play Aldershot Town on Sunday.

It comes after Spennymoor Town Council refused to help the club pay for fans to travel to the final as part of their Back the Fans and Pack the Stands campaign.

The council said it wanted to prioritise money on ailing public infrastructure, but admitted plans were being worked on for a civic reception and celebrations should the Moors win.

The club had already paid for some fans to get to the final as part of its campaign but had asked the council to consider allocating up to £20,000 from its general reserves.

The Back The Fans, Fill the Stands campaign allows people and businesses to donate directly to the club's PayPal account, with all donations going towards fan transport to Wembley.

Mr Finley said while it was "fantastic" seeing the club support fans, its purse strings were tight.

"I just want to help the club get the best backing they can by contributing financially," he added.

"It would be fantastic to see as many Moors fans as possible to see their heroes play, and hopefully win, at Wembley.

"Our family has been loyal supporters of our hometown club for decades and my son is the club's under-18s supporters' representative, so we just want all fans of all ages to see the lads play on the hallowed turf and bring the trophy home."

Spennymoor beat Rochdale AFC 5-4 on penalties to secure their place in the FA Trophy final.

A footballer hailing from Great Yarmouth will lead his team out at the home of English football this weekend.

Aaron Jones, club captain of Aldershot Town, will step out onto the hallowed turf as he leads the Shots out at Wembley Stadium in the Isuzu FA Trophy final on Sunday, May 11.

The Shots, who finished the season in 16th place in the National League, reached the final after a 2-1 win over Woking.

They will play Spennymoor Town in the final, after the National League North side - who finished ninth in their campaign - progressed into the final after a penalty shoot win over Rochdale.

Jones, 31, had signed for the Shots in June 2023 - and this weekend supporters are hoping he will be lifting the FA Trophy aloft.

Previously the right back had spent five years at King's Lynn Town, where he was named in the Vanarama National League North Team of the Season in the 22/23 campaign.

Jones spent his youth career with Ipswich Town before moving to America to progress through the US College system.

He also serves as a co-director of Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach, working in business development for the popular attraction which has been owned by his family for generations.

Reminders

There is a no re-admittance policy at the stadium, meaning if you leave the stadium, you won’t be allowed back in.

The stadium has a strict no under 2’s policy and children under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.

Bags bigger than A4 size are not permitted into the stadium.

Turnstiles open at 10:45AM on Sunday and tickets are valid for both matches on the day.

Very sad for the older generation of Shots fans that there is zero TV coverage of the match 😔

BBC Radio Surrey has a six hours of FA Trophy build-up, match commentary and post-match reaction.

I've attached the full broadcast timings below for anyone who is unable to make it to Wembley.

Sadly still no confirmation of TV coverage or live streaming.

Not that it matters much, but does anyone know who the referee is on Sunday. Just hope it's not Gavin Thingy (can't think of his surname.

I'm after a bit of advice please about listening to the radio coverage of the Shots Wembley match. I'm now living overseas where the time is 8 hours ahead of the UK and because of work commitments I won't be able to listen to the radio coverage until the following day. Do you know whether it remains available to listen to on BBC Radio Surrey the following day and if so do you know the link to it as I don't want to search for it the following day and accidentally see the result? Thanks in advance for any replies.
