I am now looking forward to next season, if I am still around of course.

Let’s not forget (as he likes to point out) his background in recruitment. I’m happy to have an entertaining team.Charles Dickens wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 8:09 pm The best way to improve the squad is to have a manager with football experience and with the personality to attract good players to join Aldershot on a limited budget. Two very good managers talking about their teams after last nights Champs Semi. Tommy would do well if he could take a page out of their books. WON

Sorry, must have missed this news. What information has come out that confirms the club has no money?Aldershot_Rob wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 9:04 am I think a lot of people are on the fence.
With Tommy you get plenty of drama , Theo, inconsistencies and unpredictable scorelines.
Following the news we don't have a pot to piss in, I think even the most pragmatic of supporters can see we simply can't afford to sack him.

Personally I think it's great Tommy's staying. The previous decade was a total **** show imo. Totally boring and uninspiring. Would much rather get the ups and downs Tommy brings than what was being served up before.
He's clearly got his weaknesses, hopefully he's learning from them. Don't see who else will improve us.

You're not wrong Cornish. While this season fell short of many peoples' expectations, I think many on here have short memories and have forgotten the dross served up over the past decade, and by Searle and Molesley in particular.CornishShot wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 9:38 am Personally I think it's great Tommy's staying. Re: Tommy
Absolutely correct, Chas. I mean, just look at the brilliant job he did of attracting goal-machine Kai Corbett to join us. OK, he had to pay a fee to get him, but you would expect that for such an effective player ... just like we had to pay a fee for Theo Widdrington. Needless to say we would not have had a chance of capturing Theo's signature if it wasn't for his father's football experience and personality.Charles Dickens wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 8:09 pm The best way to improve the squad is to have a manager with football experience and with the personality to attract good players to join Aldershot on a limited budget. Not only that, he's been dead since 1870 so the fact he can still write does him great credit, even if it is rubbishSquare Eyes wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 8:43 pmWell by my reckoning you are 213 years old, so you ain't done bad so far.Charles Dickens wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 8:09 pm The best way to improve the squad is to have a manager with football experience and with the personality to attract good players to join Aldershot on a limited budget. Improve us? We finished 8th last season and 16th this and up until the second to last game we could have still been relegated......CornishShot wrote:Personally I think it's great Tommy's staying. I could accept the ups and downs on the pitch as long as the players show desire, effort and commitment to the shirt.
TW has to look at himself in the mirror and see the negative traits that are clear to everyone else. Lose the big boss attitude and nurture a collaborative relationship with fans. Accept that accusations of nepotism are driving division and need to be dealt with starting by telling his son that the time has come to prove he is a footballer in his own right. If TW was right all along about his son and we were wrong then Theo should be able to get a regular starting place at any number of NL clubs. Cut him loose to sink or swim. Finally, make a concerted effort to improve the club’s disciplinary record starting with himself.
Tommy, the journey you mention would be so much more fulfilling and fun for all involved if you were prepared to become more in tune with supporters. You are actually wrong sometimes just like every one of us.
That’s it from me….I am now going into full on Wembley day out mode! All negativity suspended and whatever the result on Sunday let’s put the occasion up there with the small handful of historic days in Shots’ history.![]()

People get blinded by spiel and bullsh1t . If missing the play offs last season despite being so far ahead towards the end was seen as a,success. The league performance this season has been a disaster. I seeing nothing but a struggle next season .SteveyAsp wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 5:31 pmImprove us? Re: Tommy
Im.no TIT and he doesn't help himself at times especially with picking arguments with fans and having clear favourites whilst not giving others a chance. However, he has sold two players into the League, led a superb fa cup run and steered us to Wembley ( albeit by a relatively easy draw).
But in truth, it doesn't really matter who is in charge as we are now a low National League side struggling to stay afloat.
I've asked the chairman but it's time to set realistic expectations so we know where we stand. It seems to be keeping our heads above water is the aim and if that's the case then TW might as well stay.
All our managers have struggled since 2013 and suspect another change of manager wouldn't make much difference.

Re: Tommy
With our current predicament, you have to have someone who is affordable, can attract half decent players on pony wages and then try to get a tune out of them. That's a big ask, and I suspect the type of manager that some people on here want are just the stuff of fantasy.
I'm expecting big changes in the squad. Tommy will turf several out, and like last year the bigger earners (e.g. Henry) will be asked to drop their wages in order to stay on. Those without a blind loyalty to Tommy will just walk and take their chances elsewhere.
