Tommy
I was expecting a ShotsWeb meltdown when I read this in the programme:
'I am delighted to let you know I will be your manager for the foreseeable future and look forward to our continued journey together'
Or, if not a meltdown, at least the sound of folks ripping up their Wembley tickets....while sticking pins into wax models of T..o.
Perhaps they are all still too shell-shocked?

I think a lot of people are on the fence.
With Tommy you get plenty of drama , Theo, inconsistencies and unpredictable scorelines.
Following the news we don't have a pot to piss in, I think even the most pragmatic of supporters can see we simply can't afford to sack him.

Re: Tommy
Look I’ll support the team whoever is in the dugout.
He has fulfilled an ambition for a lot of us to get to Wembley so I do think he deserves another season.
My personal view though is that if we have ambition to get promoted back into the football league, unless we find another stokes/tolaj gem that’s Tommys loyalty to players he “likes” will prevent us from doing so.
Our retained list will be interesting and will say a lot to our ambitions. I would like to see a decent turnover of squad but I don’t think it will happen.

Re: Tommy
He has shown he has too many deficiencies as a manager to give us any realistic hope of improvement over the last two seasons. There have been notable successes ... last season's FA Cup run and flirting with the play-offs, this season's Wembley final ... a refreshing change from the dire days of Searle and Molesley, but some quite awful long runs of utter mediocrity in the league. I feel a repeat of the wild swings of ups and downs is the best we can expect under Tommy, with NL survival always at distinct risk.
On balance, I want him to go.

Great news pleased he's staying
Re: Tommy
Great news he is staying.Who knows where the club would have been without the success he has generated with significant off the field income from player sales, cup runs, increased gates and tv income etc?!
I assume the breakeven crowds were less than are average 2,600(?) this season so why are we still apparently running such losses ?I know Tommy has his critics and faults but I’ll never forget the highs he’s delivered in the 2 years or so he’s been at the helm.I feel his “weaknesses “ take the heat of the BOD and the issues with the pitch and lack of progress with the ground development and reported losses etc

Re: Tommy
It feels to me that even the doubters, of which I am one, desperately want to love TW but he makes it so damn difficult by his actions. I could accept the ups and downs on the pitch as long as the players show desire, effort and commitment to the shirt.
TW has to look at himself in the mirror and see the negative traits that are clear to everyone else. Lose the big boss attitude and nurture a collaborative relationship with fans. Accept that accusations of nepotism are driving division and need to be dealt with starting by telling his son that the time has come to prove he is a footballer in his own right. If TW was right all along about his son and we were wrong then Theo should be able to get a regular starting place at any number of NL clubs. Cut him loose to sink or swim. Finally, make a concerted effort to improve the club’s disciplinary record starting with himself.
Tommy, the journey you mention would be so much more fulfilling and fun for all involved if you were prepared to become more in tune with supporters. You are actually wrong sometimes just like every one of us.
That’s it from me….I am now going into full on Wembley day out mode! All negativity suspended and whatever the result on Sunday let’s put the occasion up there with the small handful of historic days in Shots’ history.

Pleased he's staying, the last couple of seasons have been a great roller coaster ride and rejuvenated my enthusiasm to support the club.It was really dire before he arrived. The main issues can only be resolved by those in charge i.e the BOD and sadly I can't see that changing anytime soon.

Re: Tommy
I hope Tommy will want to stay at the Shots, he has done well with the best squad he has manage to get with the limited cash in the bank.If he can keep his best players and sign up some better replacements, we can look forward to an exciting next season.
However I do hope we can keep the best of the younger players with potential who have not yet made the grade this season for whatever the reason.

I'm pleased he's staying. He isn't perfect but nobody is, and if he were to be replaced there'd be another manager and he'd do some things people don't like. In football you get what you pay for and it seems like we are performing at a level that our budget should be predicting. Without all the injuries we'd probably be over-achieving to a degree. Ifs and buts of course, but I think reasonable here.

Re: Tommy
Tommy has pros and cons, but I think 80% of the problems would disappear if Theo wasn't at the club - not just in terms of the query over his selections but also the balance of the midfield and its ability to protect the defence.
Would love that to happen and to keep Tommy without Theo as part of the package deal. Don't think it will happen.

He's done a good job given the impediments that he and his team face, mainly finance
Also, he gets a lot of stick from people on football matters on which they know little. Faced with similar, I'd have been far less subdued with my responses.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Re: Tommy
Can you tell me, please, ST ... what are the football matters that TW wrongly gets stick on from people who know little? My own assessment of the criticism that he gets on Shotsweb is that it is generally valid and well informed. Of course, there will always be loudmouths at matches who yell ignorant criticisms in the heat of the moment, but I assume you are not referring to that?ShotOnTarget wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 11:04 am+1AFC197273 wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 10:47 am Pleased he's staying, the last couple of seasons have been a great roller coaster ride and rejuvenated my enthusiasm to support the club.It was really dire before he arrived. The main issues can only be resolved by those in charge i.e the BOD and sadly I can't see that changing anytime soon.

I think what you are saying, GW, is that Tommy would be fine if he was a different personGone West wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 10:43 am It feels to me that even the doubters, of which I am one, desperately want to love TW but he makes it so damn difficult by his actions.
