Adie Green Kung Fu Kick

Quite a niche request but here goes.
Back in the pre internet/social media days of the 70s & 80s
AFC old club reserves often played home matches at 3pm when the first team were away.
As a teenager I found this a useful way to stay up to date with the first team match as the tannoy would announce goal information we would otherwise have to wait until the Sunday newspapers to find out.

I'm looking to find a date/opponents/result information for one particular reserve match.
Sticks in the mind as midfielder Adie Green (quite out of character) got sent off for a Kung Fu Kick at an opponent.
I recall it being on the railway side east Bank end.

I have no other information apart from the game.

Must have been somewhere in 78/79 or 79/80 as those were Adie's two seasons at the club.

The game was at home to Hounslow on 31/10/1978 which ended in a 0-0 draw. You will be glad to know that your hero also played in that match.
The team was Wonham, Brown, Smith T, Earls, Bundy, Andrews B, Tomlin, Green, Needham, Findley, Lucas. Subs: Sanford, Di Felice.

Adie Green must hold some sort of unique record because his first 3 League appearances for Aldershot were all against the same side and in each case coming on as a substitute. In 1978/79 he only made 2 league games, coming on for Nigel Edwards tn the home game against Darlington on 30/09/78 and in the away game he came on for Will Dixon on 03/04/1979. The following season he did start in the League Cup home match against Wimbledon, but his next game was coming on as a substitute, once again against Darlington, this time replacing Alex McGregor in the away match on 15/09/1979.

No it was definately on a Tuesday night, the first team didn't have a game and he did right in front of Tommy McAnearney. Green was fined 2 weeks wages and Mac thought about cancelling his contract because of the incident.

Aldershot Reserves were on a run of 5 consecutive home matches at the time, Sat 21 Oct Banstead. Tue 24 Oct Chertsey, Sat 28 Oct Wembley, Tue 31 Oct Hounslow and Tue 7 Nov Fleet.

Green was also sent off the following season in a reserve team game but that was away at Southend, also on a Tuesday evening 8 Jan 1980.

1978/79 Suburban League
1979/80 Midweek League
It was decided during 1978/79 that the Surbuban League was not competitive enough, so they applied to join the Midweek League, which the club had resigned from in 1972 when Reg Driver first took over the club.

Aldershot left the Football Combination in 1966.
