Re: Match thread v Yeovil
A bit of a strange afternoon, with two footballing sides being thwarted by an awful playing surface. Dewhurst's confidence with kicking was blown apart early on with three incidents caused by awful bobbles, after which he struggled for much of the game especially on his weaker left foot.
I don't know the details of the pitch problems, but to leave the playing surface so long and lumpy for the final game seems very odd. Roll it and cut it properly, it matters not if it's a bit of a state for the post-season games! Are we lacking expertise in the groundkeeping department these days? A few on here have voiced their concerns over the contractor we now use...
Praying that Cam's injury isn't too bad, but he was clearly in pain and angry, and was missing at the end so presumably he'd gone to hospital. It was one of at least four nasty tackles by Yeovil where they went straight through the back of a Shots player, at least three of them by their No 8 (Kite). An unpleasant habit that any decent ref should have put a stop to.
Overall, it was the best we've played for a few weeks, but probably still not at the level needed for Wembley. A few too many aberrations at the back and long spells where Barham was left isolated with Henry and Barham often just strolling about aimlessly. But Ellison was deserving of his MOTM award, Tetek was lively when he came on and I thought Kwame was fantastic.
Glad to get the three points to put a bit of shine on the final league table, and a nice little confidence booster ahead of our big day out.

Your reply is as boring as today’s performance!Chris Myles wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 6:53 pmPositive as always Alex. Lets hope you are not on the retained list.
I say it as I see it.
That was poor, again.
Re: Match thread v Yeovil
Both Yeovil and Aldershot finished where they have because they are both have been what they were. Neither side have set the NL alight this season and if we are to say that today we were defensively poor, this was cancelled out by Yeovil having an attack that obviously cannot finish particularly well.
Nice to finish the league with a win. Shame we ended that 1 x point behind Woking, but the finish is better than some thought it would be a few weeks/months back.

Re: Match thread v Yeovil
Well done Shots on the win. Hope Cam is ok as horrible tackle on him that was not punished. Defence played well but clearly the issue is in the midfield where no-one protected the lads at the back. Thomas was excellent as he normally is and helped change the game as we at least looked threatening. The set-up/formation doesnt work though but Yeovil's finishing let us off the hook. Next season needs a big clear out of players and consideration for changing the way we play, at the very least playing 2 up front

According to the Facebook group, Cam was seen post match on his feet but with a rather blood-soaked bandage around his foot, complaining about a deep cut. He was waiting for a lift to go and get it stitched up.stevieshot wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 6:53 pm From the South Stand, we saw an ambulance with flashing lights, going behind the North Stand. I hope it wasn't for Cameron Hargreaves. If it wasn't, I hope whoever needed assistance was OK.

If that's the case then he has next to no chance of playing on Sunday, will be absolutely heartbreaking for him and the latest in one of the worst seasons for injuries that I can ever remember.chimpster99 wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 7:16 pmAccording to the Facebook group, Cam was seen post match on his feet but with a rather blood-soaked bandage around his foot, complaining about a deep cut. Oh **** do you think so? Here's me all positive because he's walking around and "just" a bit cut up.Weybourne Shot wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 7:27 pmIf that's the case then he has next to no chance of playing on Sunday, will be absolutely heartbreaking for him and the latest in one of the worst seasons for injuries that I can ever remember.chimpster99 wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 7:16 pmAccording to the Facebook group, Cam was seen post match on his feet but with a rather blood-soaked bandage around his foot, complaining about a deep cut. Think it all depends on the location and size of the cut. Cam's a tough cookie and if there's any chance of him playing with dressings over it, you can be sure he'll be kitted out and ready.Weybourne Shot wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 7:27 pmIf that's the case then he has next to no chance of playing on Sunday, will be absolutely heartbreaking for him and the latest in one of the worst seasons for injuries that I can ever remember.chimpster99 wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 7:16 pmAccording to the Facebook group, Cam was seen post match on his feet but with a rather blood-soaked bandage around his foot, complaining about a deep cut. If it needs stitching then yes he he’ll miss the final as it won’t have healed by then and where the cut is would easily tear.Silasgoldeen wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 7:31 pmOh **** do you think so? A win and still some continue to complain, after a bad run what do they expect?
A decent workout for Wembley.
Tommy Widdrington got the tactics right and made good use of the subs.
Hope Cam will be ok,if not Tetek will be a good substitute.

A decent game. Fair play to the Yeovil fans that travelled.
Let’s hope hargreaves is ok but Thought Tetek was excellent when he came on today.
