Maybe OB but I wouldn't mind testing out that theory for myself!Old Bob wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 4:22 pmI seriously doubt that winning a vast sum ever made anyone truly happy.Les Briley wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 11:31 am.....winning the lottery doesn't justify buying a ticket ?, that one needs some explanationOld Bob wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 8:33 am
I may be out of line with other's' opinion, but I don't think the win justified the awful team selection. In my view, winning the lottery does not justify buying a ticket, it just means you got hugely lucky. This is why I have never bought a lottery ticket in my life.![]()

just watching the highlights and fair play to Corbett. I'm not sure I've ever seen him knowingly pass to a teammate inside the area but he did and we scored. Maybe this is like early Ronaldo, if they can stop him being too clever on the ball then the other skills might be useful.
He'll be an interesting one at the end of the season. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to leave to get more minutes but another season of working here could do him wonders. He's been sinking like a stone down the leagues so probably might want to reflect on why this is and what he needs to do to stop that.

Sinking down the leagues?
He’s pretty much gone from Peterborough to Shots. Take no notice of all the academy and youth stuff!
Played well on Tuesday night.
Not sure if just a couple of good performances make him deserving of a new contract though.

well his formative years seemed to be based at big clubs but you're right, that might just be trials that someone's embellishing.
I don't know if we've even seen a couple of good performances yet come to think of it.

Although there have been some bright moments, I would not offer a new deal to Corbett. He has great touch and technique but he wasnt able to translate those attributes into consistent performances and impact games at NL level. I wonder if he dropped down a level he would score a lot of goals, given his performances against teams like Chertsey in the FA Trophy. It might be better for him to get a season or two of consistent game time in Men's football at a lower level and put himself in the shop window. I also think he would be more effective in a team that plays wingers, I always felt he was more comfortable cutting in and attacking the far post.

I feel he's a bit of a one-trick pony, and that’s his one trick.sugrues flying headbutt wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 11:24 am Although there have been some bright moments, I would not offer a new deal to Corbett. I'd love to be proved wrong in the remaining games. If he gets to play, that is.

So no reply. Silence. I guess that means you don't have any sources, right? You just made it up. There is no "round debunking". You just wish there was, because that's what you want to believe?Old Bob wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 4:28 pmCan you point us to the sources where these credible economists say this?Red-n-Blue wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 12:59 pmI'm no fan of the previous Government, or Liz Truss for that matter, but the Labour trope that she 'crashed the economy' has been roundly debunked by most credible economists. Considering how many times Labour politicians have lied, both before the election and since, only a fool would blindly believe anything they say.
While on the subject of credibility, your last sentence lacks much of it. Many politicians lie, a few don't. What differentiates the two is their personal integrity, not what party they belong to. Sorry if this doesn't accord with your political prejudices.

If it has not been proffered on here already, was Tuesday night's team selection a subtle masterstroke by Tommy designed to confuse Woking's expectations of our likely line-up for their visit?

On the basis of last game Corbett has earned a place in the starting lineup as he played a big part in our victory. I noticed a change in his playing style he rolled up his sleaves and went into tackles with some gusto.
However, Tommy will of course decide how he is used on Saturday for the best of the team.

The only sources are the economically illiterate ones. The "markets" aren't. End of argument. The Daily Telegraph's newsletter says, today about the orange economics cretin in the usa: "The Telegraph’s Ambrose Evans-Pritchard argues that Trump has overplayed his hand and will tip the US into a recession, making America the biggest loser from his gamble." He is the world economy editor of the DailyTelegraph. He said of Truss, at the.time that she "has embarked on a course of sheer madness".Old Bob wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 7:28 amSo no reply. Silence. He's been here all season and not done anything though. I'm not sure a couple of good moments against a relegation team change much, unless it's evidence of a more mature approach to the game or something. Maybe he needed to move out to the wing, in which case maybe this is a good idea, but to me, all that's changed is that he's now "an option" out there rather than fourth choice #10.Charles Dickens wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 8:35 am On the basis of last game Corbett has earned a place in the starting lineup as he played a big part in our victory. To me the big question is whether Tommy rates Levi Laing or whether he was just resting everyone else. I thought it was the latter but then Armitage wasn't playing on Tuesday and Laing had his best game (not a high bar, we all agree). We never quite know with Tommy, do we?Warnboro South wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 7:45 am If it has not been proffered on here already, was Tuesday night's team selection a subtle masterstroke by Tommy designed to confuse Woking's expectations of our likely line-up for their visit?
