It’ll be off. If it couldn’t survive the light rain (snow) before the Fylde game then it has no chance with this. Do it now and save the Monkey Hangers the trip.

It’s not been normal for this time of year, I can’t remember the last winter we had the extended periods of cold, overcast damp weather. Yes, the pitch is knackered, but we’re not alone with that.
But the weather has been 'normal' for the time of year and the Fylde game was the only one off in the whole NL League. How can that be explained?

What are the other pitches in the NL that are knackered? All other games were on when the Fylde game was postponed.

Rochdale, Halifax, Wealdstone and Maidenhead have all documented issues with their pitches this season.[/quote]It'll be interesting what happens with Rochdale and Halifax as both grounds host Rugby League and the season has only just started.

Steve, we might as well give up now and let all the experts on here come and take charge/care it the pitch as they all seem to know they are doing.

Doesn’t really matter what WE think , does it? If the referees deem it’s unfit, that’s the end of it, however much expertise anyone professes to have. Most adverse comment is obviously incredulous frustration.

That’s the frustrating thing with the refs at this level, they seem not to listen to those that know what they’re talking about, the EFL officials were much better. I merely wanted to come on here and offer some insight into how complicated it is to manage a professional sports pitch and the environmentals around it. Sometimes it makes you wonder why you bother.

If someone gets injured on a pitch that's considered not fit then the referee could be liable if a player/club decided to take legal action.
When I did my qualification in the late 90's we were advised to take out our own insurance cover just in case.

At least the club have realised it's beneficial to have an inspection but we are tinpot if this goes

I go to watch Ringwood fair bit as its my nearest club. You are right Josh it is a lovely pitch, maybe see you there sometime particularly if we go down as I won't be making the trip up to watch Aldershot that often.

I was ground hopping there as live in Southampton and a friend of mine follows Stoneham. Got a good set up down there and impressed by the pitch.

We must remember that with our fixture backlog the club will be desperate to get the game on. Irrespective of what's led to the pitch becoming sub-standard, lots of people will have been working their backsides off and must be tearing their hair out at the intensity of today's rainfall. The final call rests with the referee / local official and we're now mostly at their mercy.

While I hate the expression, we are where we are. I feel we must applaud those who are working so hard at the moment, especially the volunteers. At a time when the club isn't exactly covering itself in glory, it's great that we have them.

Do they play at Stoneham Lane football complex? If they do then the pitch looks like it’s an artificial one, not grass. Using Google Earth the main pitch and two adjacent pitches don’t look the right colour for natural grass.
