Totally agree with you regarding how history will reflect on this season - and your last paragraph about having us on his CV!Kidderminster Shots wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 2:13 pm Trying to half fill my glass, perhaps two goals in eight appearances, both of which came against a poor Chertsey side, suggests that he wasn't as good as we all thought he was.
I can't help but think it's a massive missed opportunity though. I did think he was good and in the glimpses I saw, he was exciting. Feels a shame and a bit of a waste. In another time, he'd have filled his boots. I wonder how history will reflect on this season? Badly I expect.
The lad's probably delighted. Dodged a right bullet having us on his CV for too long!
We never get a mention in the media. If Tolaj joined Real Madrid tomorrow, he'd be referred to as ex Brighton & Port Vale striker..

I know, which is why I want him to return soon! Appreciate he's probably working towards full fitness but even only having him alongside Barham to hold the ball up for 60 minutes would make a huge differencemultishot wrote:Bray is out on loanMidlandsShot wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:27 pm Regardless of the reasons behind the recall, we absolutely wasted the signing of Stuttle. Forget whether he'd have scored any goals if he had played more, the biggest thing missing from our squad is a striker that can hold the ball up. We should have been playing him alongside Barham with Barrett in behind, and we'd have given ourselves a much better chance of winning more games than we have.
Good luck Jonny with your career, and thanks for your efforts.
Really hope Ollie Bray is on his way back soon.

Re: Stuttle gone
This is bad news if the reason is Bournemouth recalling or the player asking to return. He clearly came to get game time and it does not look good on us if he failed to get on the pitch, it may also turn Bournemouth against sending us any more players.
A top club loans out players for a reason and lowering the wage bill is not one of them.
I think our management has cocked up here, he should have been given minutes you never know he may have been very good!

I do see your point, but Bournemouth will view Stuttle as a development prospect. If he was starting for us, they might have weighed things in the balance and decided to leave him at the Rec for a while.New recruit wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 8:59 pm Bournemouth have recalled quite a few players in the last couple of weeks but don't let that get in the way of a dam good moan

I suspect the club has to pay appearance money if that player actually plays whilst on loan. It is the only logical explanation for loaned players not being selected to play. In other words, emergency cover.supershots wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 7:22 am This is bad news if the reason is Bournemouth recalling or the player asking to return. Now that the East Bank demolition project is going nowhere, Mr Wood probably wants his loan back, hence player sales, contracted players being loaned out to reduce the wage bill and stadium/pitch overheads at the bare minimum.
The £4,000 fine must hurt but the FA clearly felt that a message needs to be sent when enough chances have been given.
It isn’t down to supporters to police themselves, it’s the clubs responsibility because they are hosting an event and charging quite a lot of money for people to attend. You wouldn’t go to the cinema and be expected to tell others to be quiet during the showing would you ?
This season is about survival, on and off the pitch.
Re: Stuttle gone
Quite the reverse I believe and my experiences is that Premier & Championship clubs loan out their players to get match time. The usual arrangement is that the loan is cost free if the player is getting decent minutes but payment of his full wages is required if he's either just sitting on the bench or not in the matchday squad. This is barring any injury that prevents appearances of course.Headley Shot wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 7:47 amI suspect the club has to pay appearance money if that player actually plays whilst on loan. We don`t know why he has been recalled. I too was impressed with his style of play. Sadly, I think maybe his lack of game time contributed to Shots failure to keep him on loan. A missed opportunity.brian bloomfield wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 2:47 pmFrom the little we saw I think there should have been more opportunities for him. He worked his socks off for the team at Oldham in an unfavourable position and in my opinion contributed immensly.

He is one player I will certainly look to keep an eye on. I thought he was in the Aiden O'Brien mould who I would have loved to of seen back at The Rec, as a target man

Seen rumours that Jonny will be joining Hibernian before the window closes, time wil tell.

Re: Stuttle gone
does this imply that we didn't think he was good enough, Bournemouth wanted minutes, so drop him down a level where he will play. Hmm.
Re: Stuttle gone
Oh dear, what a waste of a talented player, it's clear to me that AFC Bournemouth wanted minutes full stopWanderer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 10:55 amClose

He will shine - They love Ghandour down there so Stuttle will have no problems.
