Stuttle gone
Re: Stuttle gone
I said earlier in the season that TW appears to have gone for quantity rather than quality. Two or three more experienced players could well have made a positive difference.Adzy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 4:32 pm It’s unlikely that we are going to get in anyone permanent at this stage of the season so it’s probably going to be another young loan player that is going to struggle to adapt more than halfway through the season in a struggling side.
I’ll say it again that the club is very poor at investing AND retaining decent forwards. This should have been sorted at the start of the season. The money raised from the sale of Tolaj SHOULD have got a fairly decent replacement, maybe not like-for-like as he was an exceptional player for this level, but definitely not paying a fee for Corbett and being told that ‘he’s a better finisher than Tolaj.’ It also worries me that our scouting system is not able to identify the type of player we need and as we know has messed up quite a few signings this season.

And if it helps push the deal over the line I bought five additional snow shovels (Squires garden centre at Baggie Lea were selling them off very cheap for a £ just before Christmas) that I intend bringing up to the club soon. What’s not to like.

Never given the chance to prove himself
Re: Stuttle gone
I feel we have missed an opportunity with Jonny Stuttle. I believe he could have contributed a great deal more than he was allowed to.

I don't know all the in and outs as to why he has returned to Bournemouth but from what i witnessed he certainly has a football brain.Great control, can head the ball, good hold up play and was very aware where he should position himself in the opponents box when attacking.Sorry to see him leave but wish him well in his next stage of his career.

Re: Stuttle gone
8 appearances out of a possible 10, the 2 games he wasn’t used finished 2-2 Woking and Braintree could he have made a difference in how those games ended? 6 out of the 7 sub appearances he came on after 75 minutes or later. Tommy will say that’s 7 chances of being a “game finisher”brian bloomfield wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:25 pm Stuttle made 8 appearances and started 1 League game Oldham away, my view is that he was asked to be pulled back even if the club says otherwise. A forward wants to play leading the line not out on the wing. Being recalled after one month is very usual after a contract is signed till the end of the season.
Re: Stuttle gone
But a chance of being a game finisher in those terms is a very impoverished chance to contribute to the success of the team relative to starting the game and maybe getting 90+ minutes. Chalk and cheese.aldershot-jg wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 5:31 pm8 appearances out of a possible 10, the 2 games he wasn’t used finished 2-2 Woking and Braintree could he have made a difference in how those games ended? 6 out of the 7 sub appearances he came on after 75 minutes or later. Really??? He's already shown he can't do it at NL level.Silasgoldeen wrote:god I forgot about Corbett. He probably earned some minutes with that hat-trick, then also disappeared.
He should have gone out on-loan but Widdrington paid money for him so he'll have been trying to prove it wasn't a bad signing.

Re: Stuttle gone
Like others in the thread, I suspect Stuttle may have asked Bournemouth to recall him. He would be getting more actual football playing in their reserve fixtures.
Pure speculation, but Bournemouth have Evanilson and Enes Unal injured and are relying on Outtara, who has hitherto been viewed as a winger, to play the no.9 role. I'm not suggesting that Stuttle would start for them, but they might be considering naming him as a substitute given the current circumstances. Since he's only sitting on the bench here for the most part, they would probably feel he's not gaining anything useful and might as well come back and maybe play five minutes.
