Weybourne Shot wrote: Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:12 am I do worry that continuing progress in three cup competitions is reducing our focus and disguising the reality that need to win more league games, and quickly. So far we've been fortunate that none of the bottom four of five have put any kind of run together but history tells us that it's quite likely to happen soon. Maidenhead for example are masters at putting a few results together when least expected. Averaging a point a game is not going to get us out of trouble. The players are working hard enough in matches but I can't help thinking that the management are not using our resources in the best way possible.
Totally agree.
We all want to see Stuttle and Barham play together but that doesn’t appear to be in TW’s thinking. Have they even played a minute together yet or is it an automatic sub of one for the other?

We’re still playing without a CF, and 2 no. 10’s .There is no hold-up play, poor Jack Barham is feeding off scraps.
Tamworth’s CF Creaney….

Which two fit players missed out yesterday? I don’t think Corbett was on the bench.

Didn’t expect anything different.

And again, the interviewer starts off by saying quite a bit hoping and wanting Tommy to just agree!

One day, a simple, “Tommy, thoughts on today’s game please” would be good, followed by some tougher questions.

Obviously scared of the manager, which isn’t ideal when in that role!
Testing questions ? I had harder questions as a 6 year old in my maths exam .
Education was better in those days

In that time it's 1 win in 6 in the league. 8 points including hone draws with Woking, Braintree and Tamworth. Alternatively it's 3 wins in 22 or 20 points in the same time. Overall it's 30 from 28 games ( or 84 points)and Holdsworth was sacked with 34 from 33 ( 99 points)

Another draw but Shots did their best to win this game. But for too many final passes misfiring, Shots might have had a comfortable win as the approach work was good.

My thought, being wise after the event of course, that if Stuttle and Jones had come on earlier in the second half the result might have been different as one or two players seemed to be flagging.

However, despite their massive time waisting, to give them credit, the Tamworth defence earned them a draw.

Eastbank poor again today. Too much focus on chanting about the chairman instead of backing the players, and it’s becoming boring!

Not enjoying the home matchday experience at the moment.
The referee could have taken a stronger stance
Law 12 in the IFAB Laws of the Game says: "Players can celebrate when a goal is scored, but the celebration must not be excessive; choreographed celebrations are not encouraged and must not cause excessive time wasting.

"Leaving the field of play to celebrate a goal is not a cautionable offence but players should return as soon as possible.

"A player must be cautioned, even if the goal is disallowed, for climbing on to a perimeter fence and/or approaching the spectators in a manner which causes safety and/or security issues, acting in a provocative, derisory or inflammatory way, covering the head or face with a mask or other similar item, removing the shirt or covering the head with the shirt."

I’ve been saying for about 5 years now about players winding up the opposition fans after scoring a goal and then crying when something get’s thrown at them!

Yet Jamie Vardy can do it without retribution it seems.

Totally agree was laughing and joking with the slab first half all very light hearted .
That was my comment. In the second half it was his long throw (a weapon they use very well) that led to their first goal. From what I saw he turned to a he North East stand terrace with a fist pump plus hand gesture to the crowd before joining his mate Creaney in winding up the East Bank. He was also guilty of going down twice at length with head injuries to try and kill the game along with the others.
Then to cap it all, he was substituted when in his own six yard box and started the long slow walk to the bench when the ref made him leave the pitch behind the goal line. Players like that annoy me so will stand by my comment.

How did Tamworth’s compare to our own time-wasting, sorry, game management at Oldham last week?

I can only imagine visiting players winding up millwall fans about 45 years ago!
