Serious question, Midlands Shot, are you actively going into the East bank and self policing these issues?

Whilst I understand your sentiment, it's easy to sit behind a keyboard and tell people what to do, but a lot harder to actually confront this behaviour face to face in person.

Why should it be up to fans to self police repeated issues and risk not only their own enjoyment but their safety too? Surely there needs to be more thorough searches and or better stewarding.
Quite often I see the stewards tackling minor issues like a 9 year old being told off for standing an inch on the yellow paint on the step.

If they’re under 18 (I don’t mean their IQ levels) then the authorities can’t name them unless with a court order. Over 18’s then that’s a yes from me.

As someone said, we’ve had flares almost hit children (and probably adults) and with a respiratory issue, I can confirm they affect my enjoyment of the game (and experience as a paying customer). Not fun struggling for breath but at least they look big and cool, right?

I get your point but should a steward - probably on living wage - potentially put themselves in danger? Think this would be a job for the police or security.

There are more than enough response stewards in the ground to sort them out, but they seem very reticent to do so.

That’s worth complaining to/questioning the club about. They can then speak to the relevant contractors.

Once upon a time I'd have agreed with you, but the NLW is now £11.44 (due to rise again in April to £12.21) whilst not mega money, it's no longer a paupers wage like it once was, with many low skilled jobs being paid in a similar bracket.

Haven't kids been hit/nearly hit by flares at some of our games? Genuinely cannot understand how people think this is acceptable or justify bringing flares into football matches.

Anyone defending the chanting really needs to give their head a wobble. Nobody should be made to feel uncomfortable watching a football game just because of who they are. Any racist/sexist/sectarian/homophobic etc. chanting should be eradicated.

Will be curious to see what punishments we get if the offenses are repeated again.
.

Aiming criticism at all fans & club is wrong, the only solution I can see is to have more robust searching on ground entry, something that would annoy the majority of supporters who just come to support the team & watch a game of football. Another solution would be to spend £££ on the East Bank to have more thorough searches at that point of entry. All of which would put supporters off from coming & an expense they cannot afford & a massive drop in income.

Not an easy thing to solve is it..What’s your solution to it ?
Why is more robust searching going to put anyone off ?
Airport security and searching is very robust but it doesn't stop people flying.

A couple of years ago, whilst on holiday on the Algarve I went to see a friendly match at their new national stadium there and was patted down and checked by their seriously armed national security police....not a problem

Think someone said on here on a thread a few weeks ago, about hiring “Sniffer” dog fo incendiary devices. Of course there is a cost, but this could be offset potentially by scaling back some of the other clearly ineffective security measures we have in place at the turnstiles.

I don’t personally know who starts and/or participates in the sectarian foolishness, but I would strongly suspect that a significant proportion really don’t know the real meaning of what they are chanting about. It might be viewed as “only” anti IRA, but the sentiment about the Pope and by definition the Catholic faith is just, frankly, disgusting.

I am NOT. Catholic by the way.

Getting searched robustly is fine on the odd occasion like you experienced, having to put up with it attending 20 odd home games, would be costly & annoying to a lot of folk.

And that, to me, is the salient point. If the cost of the extra stewarding be more the the cost of the fine? And if so, I’m sure our money shy powers that be would rather stump the fine rather than worry about other supporters matchday experience.
