Are we doing a Spurs?
Recently reflecting that we seem to be doing a “Tottenham” this season….
- Stubborn manager knows his style and won’t change
- excellent finish last season in league not being followed up
- Lots of unfortunate injuries in defence
- Hanging on to potential cup success on 3 competitions
- Surely “too good to go down”, but flirting with it
- Conceding for fun
- Even when winning by a few goals you know squeaky bum time will arrive before the end
- Not getting much joy from Tamworth!
And even yesterday the Daniel levy song for our own chairman….

- a manager who previous managerial experience is lower than the level he's at now
One major difference....they seem capable of building a stadium

Re: Are we doing a Spurs?
We are not too good to go down.
TW is very similar to Holdsworth.
Kept us up
Good first full season which includes excellent cup run but missed out on play offs.
A smidgen above a point a game in 2nd full season.
Perhaps both clubs best days are in the past.

Re: Are we doing a Spurs?
No we've won a title in the last 63 years
Re: Are we doing a Spurs?
But depending on one’s understanding of our club’s history (pre and post ‘92) in that period that you’ve mentioned we’ve also been relegated three times whereas Spurs have been relegated once.

But unlike Spurs we aren't viewed as a big club by the media . Big clubs don't go 63 years without winning a title
Re: Are we doing a Spurs?
Indeed they do but with (allegedly) a little bit of unknown outside help :- https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-30195756

Are we doing a Spurs? We're not that bad, yet
Re: Are we doing a Spurs?
There's more than a few "Big Clubs" whose last title win is out of living memory-Preston, Sheffield Utd and Wednesday,WBA Huddersfield Newcastle Sunderland...Portsmouth last won it 75 years ago-there might be an ancient fan or two left-in fact I did know one but he passed about 15 years ago,,,,,,Burnley Spurs and Ipswich's win's are entering the out of living memory zone -all over 60 years ago-even Forest's win is now 47 years ago.......come to think of it; England's World Cup Win is getting close...lowerbourneshot wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 4:41 pmBut unlike Spurs we aren't viewed as a big club by the media . Re: Are we doing a Spurs?
The difference being bar maybe Newcastle is the other clubs aren't talked about as title challenges like Spurs . I watched as rerun of Big match revisted yesterday from the 84 /85 . Manchester United v Spurs . Martyn Tyler described them as both title challengers 40 years later it's still tick tick tickhepcat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 5:37 pmThere's more than a few "Big Clubs" whose last title win is out of living memory-Preston, Sheffield Utd and Wednesday,WBA Huddersfield Newcastle Sunderland...Portsmouth last won it 75 years ago-there might be an ancient fan or two left-in fact I did know one but he passed about 15 years ago,,,,,,Burnley Spurs and Ipswich's win's are entering the out of living memory zone -all over 60 years ago-even Forest's win is now 47 years ago.......come to think of it; England's World Cup Win is getting close...lowerbourneshot wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 4:41 pmBut unlike Spurs we aren't viewed as a big club by the media . The top 2 that season was Everton and Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United ended up nowhere near the titlelowerbourneshot wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 6:54 pmThe difference being bar maybe Newcastle is the other clubs aren't talked about as title challenges like Spurs . Re: Are we doing a Spurs?
Unfortunately we don't have a Daniel Levy to fund our losses.
