Shots v Tamworth matchday thread

Post by Birdman »

As our ‘regular Shotswebber’ seems to be a bit late in starting a matchday thread I thought that I’d get one going.

Feels like the next three Saturdays will go a long way to defining how the season pans out. Win them all and we’re a step closer to the Wembley dream, moving comfortably into lower mid-table and cutting Fylde further adrift (and nailing a third team into an almost certain relegation place). Lose them all and, well, that would be disastrous and unthinkable!

Feeling optimistic today….3-1 Shots.

I know this will be controversial on here, but, looking at the bombardment we are going to get today i feel Maghoma should start
going for a 2-1 to the mighty Shots.

Really tough game

Tamworth are seriously awkward opponents who ran a premier league side close a couple of weeks ago

The long throws and corners will rain on in, but the other impressive thing about the spurs game was how Tamworth matched them physically until extra time. Creaney is a handful and even the sub strikers (Wreh and Tshikuna) are big quick and powerful. The number 22 looked quality.

We will concede from a set piece at some stage, probably twice so we need to be scoring 3. I will go for a 2-3 home defeat

Not his greatest fan, but I wouldn't be too much against him starting. The two young boys, Armitage and Woodhouse, did really well last Saturday at Oldham but it's asking a lot of them to repeat that level of performance again. Young players generally display a bit of inconsistency, which is only natural. They tend to get overconfident after a good display. They will learn but we maybe shouldn't risk both of them without an older head around, and Christian's extra height may come in handy.

Let's hope this afternoon's weather is better than when Tamworth last played at the EBB 21/12/2013. On that day the EBB was hit with a tropical storm lasting for about 30min there was a howling hurricane wind blowing accompanied with torrential rain.
As for the match we ran out 6 - 0 winners with goals from : -

Manny Oyeleke. 11min

Mark Molesley. 33min

Brett Williams. 63min pen

Aiden O'Brien. 66min

Brett Williams. 73min

Jordan Roberts. 77min

Lewis Young and Craig Stanley were also in that team. Attendance was 1,598

Not sure why you’d start someone that can’t head the ball when you’re expecting an aerial attack, I’d rather see both the mobile youngsters in there, they’ve both displayed decent aerial skills.

A perfect day, hoping for a “football “ match. I went to Tamworth for the away game ( my only away this season..), and wonder if our raw recruit CBs can cope with the inevitable direct bombardment. Anyway, hopefully won’t be dull. Draw.

I Don’t understand why people are saying this is a really tough game , it’s no tougher than any other game. 2 even matched teams, we’re at home so after last week the East Bank will be up for it & I think the team will win convincingly today. 🔴🔵
:D In my humble opinion..Just saying

I agree. An away record of Won 3, Drawn 1 and Lost 8
is hardly devastating. I know, it probably doesn’t need
to be, but I think their prowess is a tad overstated.
We shall see of course.

We should be able to beat this plastic team specialist, on a proper grass pitch!

First moan of the day 🤣 Sort out this dreadful music!

Also, Tamworth have bought along their own security guard/steward at the request of their physio 😂
