Mr House, that's my post of the week/month... possibly the year. Massive respect to you for your service and your outlook on this topic.

Despite what the world’s new overlord Elon Musk and his sheep seem to think, free speech does not mean freedom from responsibility.

This was a very odd chant at a football match anyhow and they can’t say they weren’t told to stop (numerous times). Hopefully the club can use their CCTV to find some of the culprits?

I’m with Peter on the flares. Imagine that fine could be larger due to the dangers and again we should have the technology to find a few of them.

Fireworks should be for November 5th and not 3 weeks before and after plus I don’t think cats 🐈‍⬛ and dogs 🐕 like them either plus cleaning up their ***** isn’t particularly a pleasant pastime!

I'd be interested to know what the National League do with the proceeds of the fine if anyone knows. Does it go to good causes or disappear into already lined pockets?
Gets divided up amongst the board members
Must admit I laughed at this comment is our Chairmen on the board ?

Bob that's in your opinion not in 2021s. I thought you would be a man of the people for free speech.

Bob my mother was a Catholic from county Kerry. I understand Ireland and the carnage we caused their. I don't agree with this song. I am English, though Ireland is Ireland not part of Britain...that's my opinion.

Idiots. All of them. Should concentrate on supporting the team and club instead of chanting and singing absolute nonsense!

It's the perpetrators that need to be punished, not the Club. It's not as though the club encourage or endorse it. If it were a Club official that exhibited such behaviour, yes, but these are members of the public who are in, ostensibly, a public setting. I honestly don't see how the Club can be responsible for the character or behaviour of members of the general public. The best that can be expected is that the club deal with it when they are in a position to reasonably do so.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Didn't the club have to pay out for damages caused to Oxford City's pitch last season after it was damaged by a pyro ? Its getting so the club will have to factor £10k or so a seasonout of the playing budget for pointless fines.

I am all for free speech used properly and within the law. I am dead against those who use shout FREE SPEECH as an excuse for inciting sectarianism, racism, misogyny, etc. They are using it as a mantra, a brainless attempt to defend the indefensible.

And yes it's my award based on my opinion. It’s a well-deserved award in my opinion.

And who the feck are "they" anyway in Shots2021's post? The vague use of "they" as a pointer to the sensible majority is a favourite of conspiracy theorists.

Can't agree, Eire where I spend a lot of time is Irish but Ulster is British despite as LBS rightly said Blair trying to surrender it. Even so silly songs have nothing to do with football in the NL.

Sorry to be an awful pedant. But Northern Ireland is not British. It's part of the United Kingdom. That's what makes it the UK, it's the union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

I think there are some important consequences to NI not being part of Great Britain. One would be the fact, as we saw, that the UK could have separate arrangements for Northern Ireland from those of Britain with regard to trading with the EU after Brexit. Whether this is a good or bad thing is a matter of individual persuasion.

Yes, well, anyway…During the original discussions about pyro chucking, some time ago, I was assured that all areas of the EastBank were covered by camera. Probably box-ticking, because they’ve been a fat lot of use in identifying perpetrators.
Possibly, now that there’s been a monetary fine, “something “ will be done, but I’m not holding my breath.
