Alex, there are calculated risks, and then there are the other kind.

A calculated risk is one where you have factored in the chances of failure and believe that you can withstand it. You are peed off if it doesn't work, but you survive. No one is talking about being reckless.

And incidentally, underinvesting in your squad is reckless. The likely consequence is relegation with all its negative consequences. Maybe you end up with no club at all because you don't survive relegation.
