Club statement re Saturday’s postponement
Re: Club statement re Saturday’s postponement
Has Anonymous apologised to Alex yet ? Sorry if I missed it and As Postie/ ex attendent/ Peter MacDonald, has said the pitch is now also not frozen ,obviously took time to admit the we must get the game on no matter what attitude which brought one poster " to die on his sword" for the club.Graham Stovold wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:46 pmIt has been discussed to the point of exhaustion, we are all aware of the efforts put in by these people who volunteer to help out. Anonymous has taken ownership of the error. To have FP using words like incompetence towards a volunteer who I know puts in a lot of effort is unacceptable to me.beechcroft wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:23 pmSorry Graham, but e feel Florida has a point, That part of the ground has always been a problem as i understand it, so it would make perfect sence to have checked if not double checked that area as a priority , if that was not the case, then someone ,maybe more than one, has made a mistake , one i believe will not be made againGraham Stovold wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 4:06 pm
Give it a rest !
The groundsmen are made up of volunteers, a mistake has happened which one of them had the decency to come on here & own it. Coming on here & having a dig when you contribute a big fat zero to anything, is a piss take to be perfectly frank.
A mistake was made, anon, the club secretary, and the club as a whole have accepted their error..Time to move on
At least they have apologised...this time..

Firstly, why have you not abused anyone else - more than one has made similar remarks to mine.Graham Stovold wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 4:06 pmGive it a rest !FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 2:52 pm A groundsman/groundstaff not knowing that a particular part of the ground is troublesome is not a mistake - it’s incompetence!
Plus, 3 days to put out an announcement full of flannel?!

Secondly, the groundsman and some of the volunteers should know better
Thirdly, in not sure where you get the info from to accuse me of contributing a big fat zero. I wasn’t aware you had access to all of my information.
Re: Club statement re Saturday’s postponement
We have bigger problems than arguing over a postponed game. A human mistake was made. Apology issued. Time to move on and concentrate on the real issues at the club.
Re: Club statement re Saturday’s postponement
I’ve been informed that Butts has posted a message onto his Facebook page about Saturday’s postponement. I’m not a facebook member but if anyone who is can find it and post a link onto this thread it would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

It’s from the club facebook page in regards to the postponement, Mark commented on it.
But realising Facebook will ask you to sign in here is what he said:
Please SOME of you have a word with yourself.
The club has apologised it got it wrong.
Below might offer you some insight it might not but here goes.
The directors had nothing whatsoever to do with any of it.
So those with an agenda please blame them for something else not this call.
Against Chertsey the week before with no Sun on the Saturday morning and a similar frost, it was clear the game had every chance of going ahead as KO approached. It did.
Solihull was similar with additional precautions taken, the covers were off and the main part of the pitch was playable at 10.30am.
The area that was left had covers on to assist with the defrosting, yes the covers had frost on them (that’s their job).
With the Sun up and everywhere looking perfect (this is the mistake for which we have apologised)
Club personnel along with experienced grounds people, genuinely thought this would go ahead.
The ref came and wasn’t happy with an area of the pitch and called it off. (probably rightly at that point)
He didn’t want to wait.
After I personally apologised to the Solihull manager he asked for our volunteers to be thanked and understood. Although he to thought it shouldn’t have started.
We did not try to milk ticket sales in fact we lost thousands on our catering/hospitality and other costs which had already started.
For the record I went out at three on the pitch and my belief is (for what it’s worth) we could have played it?
We did not blame the ref.
The game would have been off at 9am and at midnight on Friday.
But with the conditions, people and experience personnel we thought it would go ahead.
For this I again apologise to all that were inconvenienced.
Mistake yes for the sake of it no.
Let’s hope for three points tonight

Thanks for doing that, jg.

On dear.
So who is running the club ? Seems anyone can decide what's happening including an ex player who is related to one of the directors and employed by the club ( maybe he's Chairmen now ?). Or was he told to put something on facebook....this is remarkable.

I reckon the club is being run into the ground deliberately, the land will still be valuable, without a football club.

Time to move on Bruce as it was 4 days ago now
Re: Club statement re Saturday’s postponement
Sorry postie I keep reading that Facebook message....it's so arrogant. We all know the club threw one of its ex directors under the bus because of it, as well as the volunteers who honestly tried their hardest.

Ok, I'll bite... Who is the director and volunteer that the club supposedly threw under the bus?

Bearing in mind it’s made by a club employee, that Facebook post isn’t very professional.

The directors are obviously not the club ? It's a free for all. We can all do what we want. That has thrown the volunteers straight under the bus.
The ex director who helped them has now left the shots web board, so maybe it was his decision who knows ?
Re: Club statement re Saturday’s postponement
Why should the directors have anything to do with the state of the pitch. The groundsman and volunteers did the pre work and the ref made the final decision. Just stirring again aren't you. Jeez!!
