"An area of the pitch froze.........and went unnoticed"
I got in my car this morning. Can't say I noticed that the windscreen was frozen

it's weird because everyone knew that that part of the ground needed a bit longer. Maybe they just mean that at the point where people assumed it would've thawed, it hadn't. Oh well.
Re: Club statement re Saturday’s postponement
A very honest and humble statement, we were to blame and will do better, excellent.

At least the pitch should have thawed out by the time the statement was released.

Yes, this is pretty much how I see it too. The statement is fine and I don't have an issue with it. Mistakes happen, we're only human etc etc... but 3 days? It's almost like they were hoping it would just go away.Ex Attendant wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:28 pm At least the pitch should have thawed out by the time the statement was released.
Anyway, that draws a line under the whole farce now and hopefully we can move on.

A groundsman/groundstaff not knowing that a particular part of the ground is troublesome is not a mistake - it’s incompetence!
Plus, 3 days to put out an announcement full of flannel?!

The groundsmen are made up of volunteers, a mistake has happened which one of them had the decency to come on here & own it. Coming on here & having a dig when you contribute a big fat zero to anything, is a piss take to be perfectly frank.
In my humble opinion..Just saying

Can’t imagine the head groundsman is a volunteer?

Sorry Graham, but i feel Florida has a point, That part of the ground has always been a problem as i understand it, so it would make perfect sence to have checked if not double checked that area as a priority , if that was not the case, then someone ,maybe more than one, has made a mistake , one i believe will not be made againGraham Stovold wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 4:06 pmGive it a rest !FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 2:52 pm A groundsman/groundstaff not knowing that a particular part of the ground is troublesome is not a mistake - it’s incompetence!

It has been discussed to the point of exhaustion, we are all aware of the efforts put in by these people who volunteer to help out. Anonymous has taken ownership of the error. To have FP using words like incompetence towards a volunteer who I know puts in a lot of effort is unacceptable to me.beechcroft wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:23 pmSorry Graham, but e feel Florida has a point, That part of the ground has always been a problem as i understand it, so it would make perfect sence to have checked if not double checked that area as a priority , if that was not the case, then someone ,maybe more than one, has made a mistake , one i believe will not be made againGraham Stovold wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 4:06 pmGive it a rest !FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 2:52 pm A groundsman/groundstaff not knowing that a particular part of the ground is troublesome is not a mistake - it’s incompetence!

A mistake was made, anon, the club secretary, and the club as a whole have accepted their error..Time to move on

Re: Club statement re Saturday’s postponement
In defence of the volunteers and ground staff, I don't believe for a moment this area of the pitch went unnoticed. I think the statement, as sincere as it may mean to be, has done them a disservice, as I believe all involved would have been aware of this particular area of the pitch.
I'm not going to split hairs on it. The statement was an apology, albeit overdue, but I don't think we need to worry regarding ground staff. They've more than enough experience and know how, they have that pitch looking immaculate and I tip my hat to them.
Move on.
