Early Warning System
Part question - as it may already exist, part suggestion for the club - if it doesnt.
Like many others, I made the trip today. Longer than many, not as far as some- but still nearly 4 hours in the car for nothing.
In fact I only checked the club site when I arrived in Aldershot and noticed how easy it was to park in my usual spot!
Looking into the postponement announcement, I was half an hour into the drive but as others have stated, given the positivity from the club - I didn't think of pulling off the M4 to check social media. Having found out then would have obviously been useful.
Is there a phone notification service anywhere which could have saved me the rest of the journey (e.g. text, Whatsapp?), if not- why not.
I appreciate that today is the exception but technology is so easy now to send out mass notifications.
I appreciate that it's hard to know who will turn up on a day (& wont help away fans), but how difficult to add a mobile number to all season ticket holders on a database. If there's an admin cost to this- charge a fiver for the season so non-season ticket holders can also opt-in (although I'm sure someone would also be happy to look at sponsoring the announcements).
As well as important match announcements, it could also be a marketing opportunity.

But you were driving. How were you going to check your phone for any incoming texts and WhatsApp messages..?

Re: Early Warning System
The Fanbase App sent out the message so assuming you have downloaded the App you should have got that however as dalinz points out that won't help if your driving.
The old saying goes "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you will never please all the people all the time." In fact sometimes it seems impossible to even please some of the people any of the time

I got an email from the Fanbase app at 3.17pm. That wouldn't have helped much.Richard Petty wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:17 pm The Fanbase App sent out the message so assuming you have downloaded the App you should have got that however as dalinz points out that won't help if your driving.

I can't remember the exact time the notification came on my phone but it was shortly after the message went out on social media so somewhere around 1.30ish.Marcus ex W.Midlands Shot wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:40 pmI got an email from the Fanbase app at 3.17pm. I am no tech wizard but I suspect you may have notifications switched off on your phone if so you need to go into your App settings on your phone go to settings, notifications and choose yes for the fanbase app.

Fanbase is an issue.
Currently cannot procure Boreham Wood Tickets on their website.
Had some spare time today like most of us did and went into the Shots Shop to buy Boreham Wood Ticket and front desk totally unaware that no tickets can be brought online.

Have you not heard of people pulling over to a safe/legal place or the services in order to check their phones?!

We might be talking about different things, are you referring to the email or the message on your phone. My email arrived after 3pm same as yours but I am referring to the phone app notification which I am sure arrived shortly after Mark Butler announced in the lounge that the game was off.lowerbourneshot wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 7:11 pmYou must be a super dooper fan then I recieved my message at 15. 46Richard Petty wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:52 pmI can't remember the exact time the notification came on my phone but it was shortly after the message went out on social media so somewhere around 1.30ish.Marcus ex W.Midlands Shot wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:40 pm

I don't think there is a single platform that everybody subscribes to.
Some people are on Twitter/X.
Some people are on Instagram.
Some check Facebook.
Some rely on the club website.
Some on Shotsweb.
And many of our fan base will via a phone call or face-to-face from someone else who has found out on social media.
We feel let down by the whole experience today.
It's especially disappointing after just 7 days ago how impressed we were with the communication for Chertsey.
All today has done is alienate supporters in an already frustrating season.
