The attitude of the Club in that's it's "game definetely on" mirrors the lack of realisation as to how poor we have been this season and the imminent relegation we are in.

Today the Ref turned up at just before 1pm walked the pitch and called it off. He did nothing wrong from a regulation point of view so no grounds for complaint but perhaps had we had last weeks Ref the outcome may very well have been different. Unfortunately we will never know but the club staff, groundstaff and many hard working volunteers some regulars but also some one off's who turned up this morning did absolutely everything they possibly could have done to get the game on and to have it called off like that is not just a dissapointment for everyone coming but a kick in the teeth to all those who had put so much effort in.
I think those that know better should be quiet until the official on the day says it's on or not...it's almost as if the club has no discipline .
Still I was lucky saw 5 goals and a missed penalty today.
At least we did not lose.
In my humble opinion..Just saying

The trouble is, with respect Richard, I think you need to leave the communication to those people at the club who are paid to do that instead of putting yourself out as the "Spokesman" for the club!Richard Petty wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 5:02 pmOut of respect I will not argue or nit pick but its not that straightforward as you knowTurnkey wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 4:56 pmCorrect, and the very fact you say 'so assist with warming that area of the pitch' suggests it wasn't fit, therefore those statements saying it was utterly amazed me. The covers were left on in front of the South Stand because as you know from your time as a volunteer they absorb heat so assist with warming that area of the pitch, the rest of the pitch had sun on it so didnt need any help. They are nearly always left on until later than the others.
Re: Todays game is OFF
That comment I fell is a little unfair, Richard, as far as I can see, hasn't posted anything other than what was already in the public domain and to say he is putting himself forward as a 'spokesman' is wrong. My issue is not whether the pitch was playable or not, it's the fact that they made the announcement that the game was on before it was confirmed by the person that actually makes that decision. That Richard maybe wants to defend the club over that matter is up to him and the is the point I personally am debating and that's what this board is for, not sticking labels on people who's point of view maybe different.Shots1954 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 7:33 pmThe trouble is, with respect Richard, I think you need to leave the communication to those people at the club who are paid to do that instead of putting yourself out as the "Spokesman" for the club!Richard Petty wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 5:02 pmOut of respect I will not argue or nit pick but its not that straightforward as you knowTurnkey wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 4:56 pm

Re: Todays game is OFF
No mate, it's the inherent heat that is in the ground. I believe it's used in heat pumps with pipes laid underground. Quite surprising to see the running water (from about 4' down) melting the ice this morning at 6.30. Everything above ground was frozen solid.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 6:57 pmWell we obviously don’t have such hot underground pipes as that area is crap for thawing!!larbyshot wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 5:36 pmIt will come from the ground beneath. I've been watching water from an underground pipe melting the canal all day.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 5:31 pm If the sun doesn’t get on to he strip in front of the South Stand, where is the heat (that the covers absorb) expected to come from?

I have never acted as a spokesman for the club and in fact on the very rare occasions I have been asked to I have always refused.Shots1954 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 7:33 pmThe trouble is, with respect Richard, I think you need to leave the communication to those people at the club who are paid to do that instead of putting yourself out as the "Spokesman" for the club!Richard Petty wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 5:02 pmOut of respect I will not argue or nit pick but its not that straightforward as you knowTurnkey wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 4:56 pm

I have given my opinion on this matter, I will repeat that MY OPINION, MINE, no one else's and just because you might not agree with my opinion sorry but hard luck mate, frankly I couldn't give a toss what you think, how dare you tell me I shouldnt post. Who the hell do you think you are to tell me what I can say or not.
You have no right to tell anyone on here whether they can post on this forum or not and if I choose to post on a subject thats my choice not yours I have exactly the same right to give my opinion as you do whether that that be about our football club or any other subject discussed on here.

Re: Todays game is OFF
Not surprised that Solihull have called us tinpot.
With the weather forecast, there should always have been an inspection like last week.
Thank you to the volunteers but we look amateurish and should apologise.

Louis the club Secretary has apologised.
I can only apologise profusely to supporters and staff who made the long journey. The pitch was inspected yesterday with similar forecasts predicted overnight. Conditions worsened in the early hours unexpectedly. I’m sorry we did not get an earlier decision.
