I'm continually amused by thread titles on here giving absolutely no clue what the content is about

No wish to have a go at any individual, and my post was tongue in cheek, but there are several examples of what I'm on about

Re: 1979 Ford Escort
My first ever company car - 1.1 L 3dr Estate
Horrible Beige with dark brown plastic seats and a roof lining that only went back as far as the back seat not over the load area. Sound proofing of external noise was achieved by turning the radio up.
Didnt matter what it was though as just really proud to have a company car at the time.

Re: 1979 Ford Escort
L,GL or Ghia?
I had a 1975 Escort 1.3 L which achieved 38,000 miles second time around! Obviously service, tyres and exhausts etc excepted, the only non routine work it it had in my ownership from 1983-87 was a new heater unit and a rear leaf spring.
Rust? Well that was the end of it!

Mark 2. My friend’s wife used to call it “Heinz” as it was tomato soup coloured!Richard Petty wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 10:47 pmWas it a Mk2 or Mk1, 1975 was the year the Mk2 came out.Fuggletim wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 10:26 pmL,GL or Ghia?

Fords up until that time had the “Ford” name on the bonnet in individual letters. I was disappointed that this had been discontinued on the Mark 2!
Think that beige colour was called “Coral” by the way!

Not sure about the Beige colour as I never ordered it, the company just gave it to me from their existing fleet.Fuggletim wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 10:55 pmMark 2. Just googling the colour I can say it looked the same as this 1980 example which in the details calls it Cordoba

Re: 1979 Ford Escort
This thread is rapidly turning sad!
I worked for Ford for a short time in the late 1970s in a career that probably thankfully was short lived! I did retain a very limited connection with the Motor trade until about 25 x years ago.
I did learn during this time that the major vehicle paint manufacturers only had a limited range of colours they could produce (and this is possibly still the case) with many cars having essentially the same colour scheme. It was left it to the manufacturer to give the paint scheme an exotic name to give it some individuality.

I've had to Focus on another model.
Should there not be an unleaded or EV thread?

Mk 1 Ford Escort in British Racing Green!! Leaked like a sieve in the rain! Can even remember the registration - RDU 615H.
Handy tip - bet most of us can remember registration numbers from our old cars - I use them as passwords on the web! Will always remember them and a mixture of letters and numbers!

Re: 1979 Ford Escort
My first car was a mark 1 Escort. Dog dirt brown, with the extra pedal to get water onto windscreen Only lasted a year until at mot time found out it had a hole in the floor, and the seatbelt wasn’t actually secured to anything solid! Then got another rust bucket, a Lancia Beta. That was a lovely car to drive….
Re: 1979 Ford Escort
Passed my driving test in the same year England won the World Cup, having had no driving lessons, just borrowed a mates Morris for a spin around the surrounding military roads.
Paid 3 weeks wages (£25) for a dilapidated Morris Minor.

Remember those two cars Wakefield! Do you remember my blue Mini and the blur Cortina GT I had (prior to my Escort)?Wakefield Shots wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 11:48 am My first car was a mark 1 Escort.
