In this day and age, I really don't understand the need for a TV blackout on Saturdays at 3.00 pm. People who want to watch live football will watch live football, the same way they'll watch live music, live theatre, live comedy, etc, rather than a stream.

We live in the age of digital entertainment so you'd think the authorities would embrace it, expanding both the income and interest, rather than ban it.

I watch quite a bit of boxing on DAZN and yes, they are very sharp with VPN’s and hooky streams.

Upside:
- if there are 2 games in a week you want to watch, its cheaper than a per match pass
- hopefully the DAZN app is available on some firesticks/Smart TVs, thus making the actual process of projecting to a TV somewhat easier.

I have it on firestick

Afternoon Shots, we've (ShrimperZone) have been giving this some discussion, and so far we have found that if you use a VPN then DAZN will not even let you onto their site, let alone stream a game. Also, even if you can wriggle around the VPN blocker, then you will still need a foreign address to buy a match pass for an away game at 3pm on a Saturday. Hopefully, the loss of revenue that the NL and DAZN will suffer may make them reconsider, but I doubt it. Mid week games will be watchable domestically, and, for what it's worth, I have been able to install DAZN on our Android TV, which will save all the pain of casting to another device.

I have never used a firestick so not sure how it gets round the VPN issue doesn't the streaming provider still know what country your in

I hadnt realised that you wont need a VPN on Saturday for the Gateshead match; because its an international weekend (blackout rules dont apply)

So for those of us that can find the DAZN app on a device - this is chance to test the coverage and the pay per match/week approach on a Sat at 3pm (somewhat unusually).

Our next away game is Dagenham, on a Tuesday night, so that also will be easily available.

FGR on 21st December will be the first chance for those on a VPN to see how it works, or doesnt. (Solihull at the start of the month is postponed due to their FA cup appearance)

NB: My early investigation, as per ShrimpersZone, is that very few VPNs are likely to work, and even then you might also need a bank account in the country you are connecting in via).

I downloaded the DAZN app onto my Samsung TV about 15 minutes before ko against Wealdstone. Registering was easy as QR codes were on screen at each stage so it was done by simultaneously using my iPhone. I bought the Week Pass for £9.99 which, again, was straightforward (even for a “senior” like myself!).

Coverage was pretty good I thought. Replays of the contentious moments. Aaron Maclean was the main presenter and Danny Searle was his “expert” sidekick for the day.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet so I am only basing this observation on the previous payment page on NLTV after DAZN took it over at the beginning of the season but I suspect what Shrimoperzone is referring to is the Billing address when you pay by credit card. On the NLTV payment page if you were paying in the UK and not using a VPN then the drop box for the address defaulted to saying United Kingdom. However if you were using a VPN or were genuinely in Spain then the default address was Spain but all you had to do was click on the arrow to get the list of countries up and choose United Kingdom.

I can't imagine that they require a billing address for the country you are in at the time because that would make it impossible for you to buy events if genuinely in another country on business or on holiday.
