Yep, that was it. 4th Qualifying Round?

Wasn't that the year we got knocked out by Shortwood United? (Who the 'ell are they?)
No, Exeter season 99-2000
Thanks, Peter. The old memory is not what it was.

The 9-1 against Andover was at Basingstoke.
That was neutral territory and although the stortford one was at boreham wood it was an official away game and stortford would have been tougher opponents than Andover
That was my point about the venue, Postie. Neutral is not at home.

Stortford definitely stronger opponents than Andover ... can't argue with you on that one.
Yeah and my point was that the stortford result was far more impressive because of the two opposing sides and it was a league game

Yes, I got that ... as in my last sentence.

Presumably a confidence team-binding exercise. We’ll soon see on Saturday…

This performance and result means absolutely nothing ahead of a league game, IMO.

If TW continues with the same set-up, tactics and personnel (Maghoma and Theo!) as the last few weeks we’ll lose, comfortably!

decent (expected) result, but i fear for us now, having played Tuesday whereas Gateshead presumably haven't, on top of a grueling journey when its obvious we don't travel well, with an understaffed low-confidence defence.

Could be a chastening game.

Anyone have any idea why the two players sent off last Saturday (Ellison & A. Jones) didn't play last night at Bashley? I'd assumed that it would be a good way to keep up their match fitness whilst suspended, but neither appeared ...

Is that because their suspension would have prevented them from playing in the HSC? (I thought minor cups like that usually operated independently of league suspensions, but maybe that's a faulty assumption)

Yet another overnight stay for the team no doubt doesn't seem to help us though ... guess with the state of the train network these days we don't have much choice
and Richard Walden puts the Shots 1-0 up against Man Utd

Perhaps overnight stays are one of the main issues relating to our poor away form?

Go up on a coach in the early hours of Saturday!

I think there's a HSC rule that says you can't play any players currently serving a league suspension. There certainly used to be.

Not sure what we can take from last night. No disrespect to Bashley but with the team we put out it waasn't really a contest, yes we scored 7 but we missed just as many sitters too. Good to see Tetek last 90 mins, Maghoma still looked poor.

As others have said we shall see what happens when it matters on Saturday.

Now on to the next round but not the case for Eastleigh who drew 1-1 at Tadley Calleva last night with the Romans winning the penalty shoot-out 5-3.

Spot on. The gulf in class was huge and we should have scored at least 12. Absolutely no relevance to Gateshead on Saturday.
Great to see Tetek back. Hopefully we can get a few games out of him before his next injury.
