It gives me no pleasure at all, in fact it makes me furious, that I got everything right about today.

Not only the score but that our calamitous defending would gift them goals and about our powderpuff attack that their defence didn't have to break a sweat to contain.

Admittedly the red cards both looked soft but even before them, we offered nothing.

And both Widdrington junior and senior picked up bookings pointlessly gobbing off at the ref.

Who was the top flight manager who, a few years ago, said you can't fool fans who have been watching football for 50 years or more? He was right - plenty of us know a poor team when we see one. And we look a VERY poor team.

I'll be positive about a game when the team give me something to be positive about.

I raved on here about our performance against Barnet last year which, despite being won by a flukey deflection was as well deserved a victory as I've seen.

I even told my Spirite supporting mate that if we kept that form up, we'd sneak third or even second! But in true Aldershot form, we throw away our chance.

I'm not sure what TW can see that I can't but to maintain this is a better squad than last year, which it clearly isn't, is laughable.

So many questions since around March last season when the wheels so badly fell off our play off challenge ... pre season was strange and I'm still annoyed that we couldn't retain the likes of Ryan Glover and Kwame Thomas two players that would absolutely walk into the current line up. Let's be clear there's no way we are we staying up this season unless big changes happen and soon. Look at the dire results against the teams around us! I'm sorry but Tommy has to make some crucial decisions NOW but the ones he has been making lately become more bizarre by the week. Tactically we are so predictable and we don't even have the right type of players to play the system that TW favours. I can see us being overwhelmed by the demands of this league going forward, it is relentless and it's becoming painfully obvious that many of our players are struggling to cope.

Thomas yes as we are missing a big physical presence up top.

Not so sure about Glover though!

Because it's ridiculous to think that the Ryan Glover of last season wouldn't improve us, given what we've produced on the pitch - in that particular position - this season..

Mytshot wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 6:54 pm This side is destined for relegation but it can be avoided if TW accepts the reality, loses the stubbornness and ships the sub standard players out (there’s plenty to choose from) and gets some fresh faces in. If he won’t, then he has to go. Apart from the keeper there is nothing good about this side. Even Henry seems to have given up.
I’ve seen some dross over the last 10 years or so but this present side is up there with the worst.
I think there needs to be a bit of perspective. There are 7 x clubs below us in the table and although 3 of them had a good day today, none of them are setting the world alight across the season so far.

Relegation is a possibility for us, of course, but I rather think they may all be feeling the same.
But of those 7 sides, how many have we beaten head to head so far this season?
Not only us they have to beat though.

Clearly our biggest problem is ability to score goals. We badly need to get someone in who unlike the present forwards can score goals.

In the meantime we need to give fringe players a chance to show what they can do and replace those players who currently unable to deliver.

As for the game I don`t think that VAR would have awarded a penalty. So this was the kind of disaster that happens when on a losing run (yes bad luck).

I know it will upset some on here, but overthetop moaning will get us nowhere. But supporting MR Widdrington and our team may get us somewhere.

Fuggletim wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2024 6:02 pm Well today’s performance was then in line with what many had been predicting and it was a shocker. The Referee and the Linesman on the South Stand side didn’t help, but they are minor factors and we were truly awful and deserved the big nothing we got.

Going back to an earlier post I asked about bothering to go if we are predicting a rubbish performance which will end in defeat before a ball is even kicked? I still say going into a game, some seem to long for the self fulfilling prophecy of doom, and today, yep, they got it.

However, depending on whether you believe the gate today (I find that hard to believe) about 3000 Shots fans did bother Even is the crowd figure was inflated, probably about 75% of the attendance were Shots fans, and that, perhaps is a glimmer of hope. I still stand by the view that in expressing negativity before a game and it’s outcome is not a good thing. Afterwards when the results are in, is a different story.
Expressing negativity pre-match will have no bearing on it’s outcome. And it certainly doesn’t affect attendance, supporters still turning up in hope ,despite realistically expecting a poor performance.
Think there are posts on here Karl regarding people who didn’t come today, and certainly we have seen “voting with their feet” in the past. I myself wasn’t expecting a poor performance, more hoping there wouldn’t be, but the nature of football is you can never have a certainty. Today WAS abysmal.

If the players you have aren’t capable of playing the system you want to play, then you either change the system, or you change the players. Persisting with it both gets you nowhere, as we are seeing.

I will agree with you that out of the two of them Thomas is probably the one we miss the most but only by a small margin, I rated both of them and in my opinion both of them would make a massive difference to our current squad.

Dropping Dewhurst for JVS

Suspect TW wants out

However every manager struggles under Azeem so must ask how are his 3 targets going?
How can anyone put that JVS in goal when you’ve got Marcus, there is no comparison. Suspect TW wants the sack, take his money and start again. Him staying is going to turn toxic.
JVS over Marcus, he needs a shrink.
That was a nonsensical decision that ultimately will come back and haunt TW, 100% agree 👍
