Something unique to raise capital for the club, my thoughts are a beer keller type of venue, with staff in lederhausan and bavarian outfits, ompah band etc serving basket meals like Frankfurter, schnitzel etc. Going with disco to follow, ideal for work do's, hen and stag nights, groups just enjoying a good night out, and then can be used with large screen for mega matches and other sports during the week, and or for hire during the week.

Totally agree Ganesh, this is a great idea as it something different.ganesh wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 6:53 am Something unique to raise capital for the club, my thoughts are a beer keller type of venue, with staff in lederhausan and bavarian outfits, ompah band etc serving basket meals like Frankfurter, schnitzel etc. Going with disco to follow, ideal for work do's, hen and stag nights, groups just enjoying a good night out, and then can be used with large screen for mega matches and other sports during the week, and or for hire during the week.
You only have to see how popular the Oktoberfest at Stoke Park in Guildford is.
This could definitely bring in extra revenue for the club and it’s something the club really needs to get right,we have missed out on so much revenue on previous European Championships,World Cups, big boxing fights by not having the bar open.It bugged me at that time and I couldn’t understand it as if it had been marketed/advertised correctly it surely could have made money.
Lots of others clubs bars/venues are really nice and at times are open on non match days. You only need to have a look at Farnborough’s clubhouse and see what they do over there.

It's a great idea. I haven't checked the thread so at the risk of repeating the idea, an annual CAMRA event would do well. Local CAMRA officials liked the idea some years ago but club officials at the time poo-pooed it and it didn't go anywhereSean Chambers wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 8:18 amTotally agree Ganesh, this is a great idea as it something different.ganesh wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 6:53 am Something unique to raise capital for the club, my thoughts are a beer keller type of venue, with staff in lederhausan and bavarian outfits, ompah band etc serving basket meals like Frankfurter, schnitzel etc. Going with disco to follow, ideal for work do's, hen and stag nights, groups just enjoying a good night out, and then can be used with large screen for mega matches and other sports during the week, and or for hire during the week.

Yes, sadly there have been times in the past (granted this was pre Azeem) where I had tried to liaise with the club with regards to organising events and they all ended up as non starters for one reason or another. In the end I stopped trying as it was always met with such resistance.
In more recent years the mantra seems to be
Tried it once, it didn't work, not enough money to be financially viable.

A re-occurring theme unfortunately. People who on the one hand constantly stating the need for extra funds but whose egos were so fragile they couldn't bear the thought of a situation where something they hadn't thought of/couldn't understand being a success.Aldershot_Rob wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 8:58 am Yes, sadly there have been times in the past (granted this was pre Azeem) where I had tried to liaise with the club with regards to organising events and they all ended up as non starters for one reason or another. Re: Constructive ideas for Ground Development
Hopefully, there will be some fresh information shared with us this month.
Re: Constructive ideas for Ground Development
Headley......not sure any of it was " fresh"
Re: Constructive ideas for Ground Development
It has been mentioned previously in this thread that the development would be affected by the possibility of tree preservation orders. In recent years we have had trees removed at the High Street End to allow for the Community Stand to be built. Before that trees were removed to allow for the portakabins to be placed again at the High Street end.
Questions:
Can anyone actually confirm there is such an order in place!
Did we get/need permission a few years back to allow the removal as mentioned of trees.
Am I barking up the wrong tree!
